Apparently there are different version of scrot around. I searched around a bit and it seems like the original scrot by Tom Gilbert doesn't have the -u option. I think it may be debian-specific. I'll remove the option later.
For now, you can just set screenshot_window_command="scrot %img" in your config.
Since scrot -u is just a fallback in case scrot -s fails, I assume you tried to take a screenshot while your mouse was trapped (in a game or something)? Or are there any other errors?

This is true. I run Archlinux, and have to use the package scrot-patched which has Debian's patches, to be able to use the -u option.
Since you use Archlinux too, use that package I just linked.
