Opensidian 0.9.2

Community plugins work more like they do in stock Obsidian: Templater, Tasks, Dataview, Excalidraw and Obsidian Git were each driven through their own workflows and the differences fixed. Typing is lighter too, because the window-title census now only runs when you ask for it. Built from 8bd57c8, tested on Fedora 44, Debian 13 and Ubuntu 26.04 (slim AppImage, portable AppImage, Flatpak, RPM, DEB and a source build: 15 of 15 cells pass).

Faster typing

  • The window-title census is opt-in (OPENSIDIAN_CENSUS=1). Without it, each keystroke skips the layout reads and title rebuilds, and the native title is a plain "note - vault - Opensidian" that is only sent when it changes. (#30)

Plugins behave as in stock

Templater

  • Startup templates that write files through the vault adapter see them at once, and they fire "create".
  • <% %> commands are highlighted with the theme colours and stay literal in Live Preview.
  • tp.file.include("[[Note#^id]]") inserts that block, and tp.frontmatter reads nested and flow maps.
  • A plugin's follow-up edit undoes together with the edit before it.
  • Settings sub-pages, list rows, input suggestions, warning notes and group headings look and behave as in stock.

Tasks

  • Done tasks are struck through in Live Preview, custom statuses show as tasks, numbered tasks keep their number, and a task inside a quote gets no checkbox.
  • %%comments%% are dropped from rendered markdown, long query errors wrap, and an invalid data.json falls back to the defaults.

Dataview

  • Frontmatter YAML handles nested maps, flow and block scalars, anchors and tags. Invalid YAML gives no frontmatter.
  • Rows that tie come out in stock's order, and "Rebuild current view" re-runs Live Preview code blocks.

Excalidraw

  • "Create new drawing in the current window" over a note keeps one tab.
  • Toolbars, dropdown buttons, checked menu items, the file suggester and Frame Settings look and work as in stock.

Obsidian Git

  • The line author gutter paints, and the conflict list opens instead of saying "exists".
  • Commit-and-sync followed by close closes the window.

For every plugin

  • saveData over a hand-edited data.json with a typo keeps the old bytes as data.json.invalid instead of overwriting them.
  • Files a plugin removes or renames through the adapter leave or move in the vault at once, with their events.
  • A file view a plugin opens over a note saves the note's unsaved edits first. If that save fails, or the note is pinned, the view opens next to the note instead of replacing it.
  • fs.watch on a path that can't be watched reports an error instead of polling forever.

Also new

  • A Settings gear next to the vault switcher. (#29)
  • Graph group colour swatches are round, the size stock draws them, and a colour edit reaches the graph straight away. (#28)

Fixed

  • A folder made unreadable from outside the app no longer counts as deleted, so its notes' tabs stay open.
  • A note created in the app and deleted outside it before the next scan disappears from the vault.
  • A query typed into the quick switcher while a note is still loading stays in the switcher.
  • Renaming a note also rewrites [[Old.md]] links. In the graph, [[Alpha.md]] resolves to the note Alpha.
  • Frontmatter YAML with doubled aliases, deep "- - -" nesting or long multi-line values no longer takes exponential or quadratic time.
  • A plugin-built [[#Heading]] link in reading view opens the heading.

Build notes

  • This build ran cargo test and packaging on the new build host. Gate evidence comes from the full gate on the pre-version-bump commit ad08816, not from a full smoke run of this sha.
  • Landlock sandbox unit tests pass on the build host. Matrix package installs ran in rootless user namespaces, which lose file ownership changes.
  • The binary in the AppImages and the DEB is built on Ubuntu 24.04 and needs glibc 2.39 or newer (the DEB depends on libc6 >= 2.39).
  • Checksums are in SHA256SUMS. Its signature is added before publishing.
