chrome has the outline effect on tabs.

This is intentional; the outline is important to keyboard users that need to know what currently has focus. If you want to remove the outline yourself feel free, but this isn't something we're going to include in jQuery UI.

In chrome, firefox and opera, element highlighted if you are using tab. And outline: none disables only the mouse hover effect. And you can redefine the outline if you need (and for sure you must do it).

This is not the case in IE though, and in general it's best to leave the browser's default in place.
