Managrr

Summary

A spiritual successor to Requestrr, intended to have all the same funcionality, and then some.

Managrr aims to have the same functionality as Requestrr such as:

• Ability to allow requests for Radarr/Sonarr/Overseerr directly from Discord
• Role restricted commands
• Notify users upon completion
• Emphasis on usage with OCI Containers
• WebGUI frontent for configuration management
• Request multiple seasons or entire show
• TMDB/TVDB Integration

Managrr hopes to improve on Requestrr’s functionality by:

• Allowing removal of Radarr and Sonarr content (Role restricted)
• Generic underlying function calls to allow for extending beyond discord (Potentially telegram, IRC, etc.)
• Allowing for download management/status via Radarr/Sonarr
• Options for only allowing the user who requested specific media to be able to delete it
• Ability to request single episodes

Thoughts for the future:

• IRC/Matrix/Telegram support
• Direct download management (QBittorent, Sabnzbd, etc)
• Voting system for Request removal/addition
• Ability to request a redownload of the media (in case of file corruption, poor quality rips, wrong episodes being grabbed, etc)

Goals

The primary purpose of this application is to make it easier for multiple people to manage your media server, with restricted permissions based on discord roles for what each user is allowed to manage. The idea is to have something like a “Group/Community maintained media server”, where users can decide what to add/remove, Similar to Requestrr with extended functionality.

Problems to solve

“Hey, can you add foo to the server? Ive really been watch it!”

Solution:

Have the user directly be able to add the media themselves, depending on their permissions

“Hey, im done watching foo! You can go ahead and delete it!”

Solution:

Have the user directly be able to delete the media, depending on their permissions (include a setting to only allow user to be able to delete content they’ve requested)

“Hey, I requested this movie, any idea when it might be finished?”

Solution:

Have user be able to directly view the status of the download upon request

Development/Build

Develop with Nix Flake:

If you already have the new package manager installed with flakes enabled, simply cd into the directly and run:

nix develop

Installing Nix:

Nix is a cross-platform package manager that makes it very easy to install up-to-date packages on any system. This also allows us to create standalone development shells seperate from our user’s shell.

• Dont have nix: Install Nix
• Flakes aren’t enabled: Enabling Flakes

Devlop with Direnv:

Install Direnv Direnv allows a shell hook to be automatically run when entering a directory, using this, we can activate the nix flake’s shell automaticall when entering a directory, and deactivate when leaving the directory. To do this, cd into the repo and run:
