Choose a tag to compare

@justtxyank justtxyank released this 03 Oct 13:16

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.3.0. Unofficial, fan-made, free. Not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by any game developer or publisher.

Currently supports OOTP 27. Everything it needs is bundled; Windows 10/11.

Install
Extract OOTP-MultiTool-Setup.zip anywhere and run Setup.cmd. Pick a folder, tick the shortcuts you want, Install. Installing over 1.1, 1.2 or 1.2.1 is fine: your remembered paths carry over.

If your browser pauses the download as "not commonly downloaded", choose Keep in the download panel; until you do, the file on disk is only a partial download and will not open.

New in 1.3.0

  • Save game tools is open. It holds eight tools that work on ONE saved league (a .lg folder in the game's saved_games), not on the game's own database files:
    • Player Editor -- how and when each player was acquired, a retired player's retire year, and the mark that stops the game offering to make him a coach. Export to Excel, type your changes, Check, then Pack into the save.
    • Personnel Editor -- every coach, general manager, scout, trainer and owner in the league: export to Excel, change their ratings, Check, Pack. In this version only the ratings can be changed (the skills, Manager Style and Personality, the relations and focuses, Scouting Preference, the scouting and trainer numbers); every other column -- names, birth date, home town, wanted job, team, Historical ID, the link to a retired player -- is read-only, and Pack refuses a change to one and writes nothing.
    • Missing Picture Scan -- lists everyone who does not wear a picture of himself, players and personnel (owners included), with the id the game names his picture file after. Read-only; it writes one spreadsheet into the league's import_export folder.
    • Draft-pool Schools -- fills in the real school for each amateur draft prospect, every season, once the game has announced that year's draft pool.
    • Player History Purge -- takes a season off a player's History tab: the row the game's editor leaves behind when you make him a free agent.
    • Draft Signability -- sets how easy each draft prospect is to sign, from Very Easy to Impossible, between the Draft Pool Announcement and the draft. One player by his ID, or the whole pool in a list.
    • Turn Active Player into Coach -- for player-managers: makes an active player a free-agent manager as well, the same man, linked to his player page, while he keeps playing.
    • Update Personalities -- gives the real players of a league their real personality (the eleven traits of the game's personality page), each man matched by his id, his name and his birth date.
  • Every write asks first, refuses to run while OOTP is open, backs up the files it touches (Documents\OOTP Multi-Tool\Backups) and ends by saying exactly what changed in the league folder, measured before and after -- never guessed.
  • The save game tools work on leagues started from the historical database, through the 2010 season. A league outside that range is refused when you pick it, and the tool says why. Keep your own backup of the league as well: the game has no undo.
  • The database tools (Database converter, Historic Teams Patch) are unchanged from 1.2.1.

To verify a file first: the SHA-256 of OOTP-MultiTool-Setup.zip is on the download page, and payload.zip's is in CHECKSUM.txt inside it (compare with certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256).

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.2.1

@justtxyank justtxyank released this 23 Sep 22:36

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.2.1.

Installing over 1.1 or 1.2 is fine: your remembered paths carry over.

If your browser pauses the download as "not commonly downloaded", choose Keep in the download panel; until you do, the file on disk is only a partial download and will not open.

New in 1.2.1

  • The Historic Teams Patch was rebuilt. The 1.2 version renamed team codes in a way that could leave the Red Sox, Reds, Indians, Brewers, Athletics and Orioles (and others) without their minor-league affiliates after the first offseason. The new patch does two things and nothing else: team codes with a digit in them (ML4, WS1, NY1, KC1, ML1 ...) become the real Baseball-Reference abbreviation for that season (MIL, WSH, NYG, KCA, MLN ...), in every table and in the parks file, so every club keeps its own ballpark and every minor-league club keeps its parent club; and Cleveland is the Indians again through the 2021 season. It checks its own work before it writes a single file and refuses to go on if anything does not match.
  • If you patched with 1.2, put your original database back first: Undo (restore backup) and pick the oldest one in the list or Verify integrity of game files in Steam. The tool detects a 1.2-patched database and tells you.
  • The buttons and help text on the database screens are reworded in plain language. The Historic Teams Patch buttons are now Preview (no changes), Save patched files, Patch my game, Undo (restore backup) and Open results folder, and each has a one-line hover explanation.
  • Undo also puts back the Perfect Team parks file. Existing saves do not pick any of this up: start a NEW historical game.

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.2

@justtxyank justtxyank released this 18 Sep 13:54

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.2.

Installing over 1.1 is fine: your remembered paths carry over.

If your browser pauses the download as "not commonly downloaded", choose Keep in the download panel; until you do, the file on disk is only a partial download and will not open.

New in 1.2

  • A landing screen: Database tools, then either the Database converter or the new Historic Teams Patch. Save game tools is shown greyed out and marked coming soon.
  • Historic Teams Patch: updates the historical database with the team abbreviations from the back of a baseball card for each season (CHC, CWS, NYY, LAD, STL, KCA, SLB and the rest) and matching park names, and checks and fixes franchise lineage and minor-league affiliations where the game has them wrong. Dry run first (changes nothing), then Apply to the game folder (backs up first) or Export a pack to copy in yourself. Restore a backup puts a backup back. Existing saves do not pick this up: start a NEW historical game.
  • A plainer installer. No self-extracting program and no launcher script: Setup.cmd hands off to Install.ps1, which unpacks the tool into the folder you pick and writes an ordinary shortcut. Nothing else on your PC is changed.

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.1

@justtxyank justtxyank released this 10 Sep 15:12

OOTP Multi-Tool 1.1. Unofficial, fan-made, free. Not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by any game developer or publisher.

Currently supports OOTP 27. This release carries one function, the database converter: it unpacks OOTP 27's historical database files to CSVs you can edit, and packs them back. Everything it needs is bundled; Windows 10/11.

Two ways to install

  • OOTP-MultiTool-Setup.zip (recommended): extract it anywhere and run Setup.cmd, pick a folder, done.
  • OOTP-MultiTool-Setup.exe: the same installer as one file.

If your browser pauses the download as "not commonly downloaded", choose Keep in the download panel; until you do, the file on disk is only a partial download and will not open.

New in 1.1

  • Check for update: one click asks this page whether a newer version exists and opens it if so. Nothing is downloaded or installed by the tool, and nothing about you is sent.
  • Send feedback: a short form (bug report, general feedback or feature request) sent straight from the tool. You choose whether the session's log goes with it. If the tool cannot reach the site, your mail client opens with the report filled in instead.
  • After a failed conversion the tool offers to send a bug report with the log.
  • The product is now simply "OOTP Multi-Tool"; 1.0 users' remembered paths carry over.

Windows will warn you about the .exe. It is not code-signed, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. To verify a file first, the SHA-256 of the .exe and of payload.zip are in CHECKSUM.txt (compare with certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256).
