BamDoodle v0.1.3

@jvdburgh jvdburgh released this 18 Oct 19:41
v0.1.3
f73591c

Clearer cards and a smoother time on phones. Live at bamdoodle.io. This covers everything since v0.1.1, including v0.1.2.

What's new

  • Suspect and Vote buttons under every player's name do the same as tapping their face, and show what you picked ("Suspected ✓", "Your vote ✓").
  • Who suspects whom, by name: "suspected by you and Noor" instead of a bare count, in berry when you're one of them.
  • Your own card stands out, with an outline and a "you" badge, and says "That's you" when you hover it.
  • Spotlight: suspecting or voting no longer greys out everyone else's lines. When you spotlight someone yourself, a "Show everyone ✕" chip on the canvas brings everyone back.
  • Phones:
    • Player cards sit in two columns, so names fit.
    • The setup's Next button stays above the browser's bottom toolbar in Firefox and Safari.
    • Pages end with a little extra space at the bottom.
  • The End: the confetti fades out instead of landing on the "Did you enjoy the game?" card, and the footer with the maker is back.
  • Desktop: more room above the header and below the footer.

Behind the scenes

  • The release workflow's smoke test works now, so every release is checked with a real game after it deploys.
  • The README and docs are rewritten for a live game: how to play, how to contribute words or code, and how to run your own copy.

BamDoodle v0.1.1

@jvdburgh jvdburgh released this 18 Oct 19:02
v0.1.1
849a1a0

The first live release of BamDoodle: a multiplayer drawing and bluffing party game for your phone. Play it at bamdoodle.io.

What's in it

  • Rooms on your phones: create a room (set it up, then your name), share the four-letter code or the /join/CODE link, and draw yourself a face.
  • Two ways to draw: one stroke each, or timed turns. Choose the number of rounds and the word categories.
  • The bamboozler doesn't know the word and has to blend in. Tap a face to put the hat on whoever seems sketchy; everyone sees it.
  • Who's sketchy? Vote with a tap after the last turn; you can change it until the vote ends. Then the reveal on the player cards, the bamboozler's one guess, and the points.
  • The End: a podium after the last round, then play again or start a new room.
  • Words in English and Dutch, 37 categories each: everyday things, Efteling, Very British, Logos, Films, Superheroes, Memes and more. 18+ categories only when the host picks them.
  • Show on a TV: a host screen with the shared drawing, without anyone's secret.
  • Free, no accounts, no ads, hosted in the EU.

v0.1.0 was tagged but never deployed (a release workflow bug, fixed here).
