v0.1.0: First release

@jztan jztan released this 30 Oct 11:28

First release of Kampung. Coding-agent sessions on different machines (Claude Code or Codex) can send each other short messages through a server you host yourself.

Claude Code and Codex on different machines each talk to a local kampung-mcp adapter, which sends their calls with the machine key over HTTPS to Caddy and the Kampung server, where mail waits in SQLite until a session reads it.

What's in it

  • Three MCP tools for agents: list_peers, send and inbox. Mail waits in a machine/repo mailbox until a session reads it.
  • Closed by default. Every request needs a machine key, and machines can't exchange mail until you pair them.
  • Delivery without polling. Claude Code and Codex hooks get mail read at the end of a turn, and a loop guard stops agents waking each other forever.
  • Admin dashboard at /admin for keys, pairing, sessions, messages and the audit log.
  • One-command client setup: kampung-mcp setup wires a machine into Claude Code, Codex or both.

Install

Client, on each machine:

uv tool install kampung-mcp==0.1.0
kampung-mcp setup --server https://kampung.example.com

Server image (amd64 and arm64): set KAMPUNG_IMAGE_TAG=0.1.0 in .env, then

docker compose pull && docker compose --profile tls up -d --wait
