v0.9.2
v0.9.1
Highwater v0.9.1
The desktop widget now wears real company logos — 41 of them, drawn full-colour on glass badges: Anthropic/Claude, OpenAI/Codex, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Z.ai, Kimi, Mistral, Perplexity, Groq, Cursor, Ollama, Hugging Face and more. Every provider Highwater tracks shows its own mark in the widget, the cards, and the settings panes.
Widget
- The widget floats translucent over the desktop, always-on-top, draggable by its header, with a live pulse dot and a per-row gauge that turns amber then red as a quota thins.
- Fixed: the widget window now grows and shrinks with the rows it gains or loses. The winit backend sizes a window only when it shows it, and the widget shows before the first readings land — so the card clipped inside the frame it was created with, and every account added or removed after kept the stale frame. The card's own arithmetic now comes back through the .slint it lays out with, so the window cannot drift.
- Fixed: the footer said
{WidgetDesk.rows.length} providers— braces the compiler treats as literal text; it reads "5 providers · live" now. - Look setting: auto / light / dark; opacity, three card sizes, hide from the ✕, the tray, or the preferences sheet.
Client
- Win10 acrylic and Win11 Mica translucency on the settings window, carried over from v0.9.0.
- New look setting, footer polish, and the usual pass of small fixes across the interface.

v0.9.0 — widget with real provider logos
The desktop widget, for real this time
The widget now shows itself on first launch — no digging in settings — and every row
wears the provider's own mark on its brand colour: Claude's clay, Codex's green,
Gemini's blue, Z.ai's violet, and forty more. The same marks the cards draw, so nothing is
ever a second truth.
- Header with the app mark and a pulse — green while readings land, amber while the card waits.
- Widget size — Compact, Default or Large, in Preferences → Desktop widget.
- Reset position — one click puts the card back at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
- A gadget that behaves like one — clicking the widget never steals your keyboard focus
(it wearsWS_EX_NOACTIVATE, the way desktop gadgets always have). - Hover a row to see it lift; click it to bring the main window up.
Upgrading from 0.8.0 or earlier
Install straight over the old one. The taskbar icon may keep its old look — that is
Windows' icon cache, not the program: unpin the app from the taskbar and pin it again, or
just restart Explorer, and the new card mark takes its place.
v0.8.0 — Desktop widget
Desktop widget
A small translucent tracker that floats over your desktop — one row per provider, the same readings the cards show, the same quota bars at the same tones. Drag it by its header, click a row to open Highwater, close it with its own ✕.
- On/off from the tray, the Preferences sheet, or the widget itself
- Keep on top so it stays above other windows (off if you'd rather it live under them)
- Opacity from 50% to 100% — on Windows 10/11 it floats over the same system acrylic the preferences sheet does, over the compositor everywhere else
- No taskbar entry, no alt-tab stop; its position, size and settings are remembered
New icon
The card from the brief: a white GNOME HIG sheet, a bold mono-line H with the faintest water-pressure bow, and the quota progress bar exactly as the interface draws it. Regenerated for every size, the Windows .ico and the site.
More customization
The new Desktop widget group in Preferences — show, keep on top, opacity. These belong to the client itself (the daemon has no window to place), so they answer instantly and need nothing from the background service.
Packaging
The Windows .ico now carries PNG-compressed entries — a quarter of the pixels it embedded before.
v0.7.2
Resolve the Windows 10 acrylic export at runtime user32.dll ships SetWindowCompositionAttribute but user32.lib does not import it, so the static extern left MSVC's link with an unresolved symbol. Looked up by name through GetProcAddress instead — the route every Windows 10 acrylic application takes.
v0.7.1
v0.7.1 — new iOS-style app icon Ocean-gradient squircle with a droplet over layered waves, rendered from SVG at 4096px and downsampled for every hicolor size, the Windows .ico and the site favicon. Site nav/footer icons lose the boxed border so the squircle shows clean.
Highwater v0.7.0
First public release.
- Windows setup EXE (per-user install, no admin rights)
- Linux .deb / .rpm
- 60+ AI provider quota monitoring in one flat dark widget
