Superpowers Beta 5.0.2 — Bitwig 6.1.5 (macOS, Windows, Linux)
Superpowers Beta 5.0.2
Free, made by one person. If it helps your music, please support the project.
Feature tour: kalifrn.com/superpowers
| Platform | Bitwig | Download |
|---|---|---|
| macOS 13+ Apple Silicon | 6.1.5 | Download .dmg |
| Windows 10/11 x64 | 6.1.5 | Download .exe |
| Linux x64 (.deb, system or manually unpacked folder) | 6.1.5 | Download .tar.gz |
Install over Beta 5 or 5.0.1; no need to restore first.
From now on, new versions support Bitwig 6.1.5 and later only. On Bitwig 6.1.3 / 6.1.4, keep
Beta 5 (it still has the
Cmd+3 issue below); on 6.1.1 / 6.1.2, keep Beta 4.3.
Fixed
- Some projects would not open (#19):
"Could not open project … Unknown enum value with id 7 for enum quantize_grid_subdivision". Projects
saved with a quintuplet or septuplet (5T / 7T) grid could not be read with Beta 5. The cause was the
Cmd+3 straight / triplet toggle, which hid those grid values from Bitwig. Cmd+3 is removed; the grid
behaves exactly like stock Bitwig again. Your projects were not damaged and open normally with 5.0.2. - Shortcuts you can change: Collapse Device, Expand Device, Collapse Track and Expand Track are now
listed in Settings > Shortcuts. Change or remove their keys there; the defaults (-,+/=,
Left, Right) no longer override your choice.
Everything else is Beta 5: Capture MIDI (30 s), Freeze, Export with Group / Return / Master FX, Ramp,
Cmd+E and note selection, full-length Duplicate, Detect Event Key, Device Keys, group summaries and
height toggle, track keys and Shift ranges.

New
- Capture MIDI keeps the last 30 seconds you played. Each capture uses up the buffer, so a second capture never repeats the same notes.
- Freeze: one window for the whole queue with real progress, no missing-plug-in prompt for every track, frozen clips keep their shape and colour with hatched tails, Unfreeze waits until the plug-ins have reloaded, and renders are 24-bit.
- Export with Group, Return and Master effects: a new option in the Export Audio dialog. Solo states are restored afterwards.
- Ramp: type a Start and an End velocity under the Velocity lane; the selected notes ramp between them.
- Piano roll: the selection follows moved notes; Cmd+E splits at the grid and keeps the pieces selected; Cmd+3 toggles straight / triplet; Duplicate copies the full length of the selection.
- Detect Event Key: right-click an audio clip; its key is added to the clip name. Relative major / minor can be close calls.
- Device Keys:
-collapses the selected device,+or=expands it. - Groups: lighter summaries for expanded groups, a compact height toggle, Left / Right fold and unfold the selected tracks, and Shift ranges you can see across groups.
- New Bitwig versions: 6.1.4 and 6.1.5 on macOS, 6.1.5 on Windows, and a first Linux installer.
- Send Report in every installer (see below).
Linux
Installer 5.0.1 hotfix (2026-10-17): fixes ./install.sh --bitwig … running status instead of installing, and false running-app detection. Finds .deb copies unpacked in your home folder, including Fedora custom installations. No Bitwig feature payload changes.
tar -xzf Superpowers-Linux-x64-Beta-5.0.1.tar.gz
cd Superpowers-Linux-x64-Beta-5.0.1
sudo ./install.sh # install
python3 superpowers_linux.py status
sudo python3 superpowers_linux.py restore # back to official Bitwig
Needs Python 3.8+. The Python audio runtime for Separate Stems / Audio to MIDI is not set up on Linux yet.
For a copy unpacked in your home, no sudo is needed:
./install.sh --bitwig "$HOME/.applications/bitwig-native/opt/bitwig-studio"
Theme editor users: a verified official backup next to bitwig.jar lets the installer rebuild Superpowers while preserving your modified JAR separately. The theme is not carried over. Without that backup, restore the original with the theme editor or reinstall Bitwig first. Reapplying themes is unverified and may overwrite Superpowers changes. The 5.0.1 install/restore paths were checked offline with real Linux 6.1.5 files and a simulated theme modification; this is not interactive Fedora validation. Installation guide.
The original 5.0.0 archive remains attached for historical reference; use the 5.0.1 download above.
Something not working? Send Report
Click Send Report… in the installer (Linux: python3 superpowers_linux.py report). It saves Superpowers-Report-<date>.zip on your Desktop with your installer, Bitwig and Superpowers logs, with your user name and home folder removed, and opens a prefilled GitHub issue. Drag the zip in and submit. Nothing is sent automatically.
Testing status
- macOS: tested inside Bitwig 6.1.5 with the installer from this release.
- Windows and Linux: every patch is checked offline against the official Bitwig files of each version (installer reconstruction, class linking, integrity check). Not yet tried inside Bitwig on a Windows or Linux computer — please report what works.
- The Mac app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized; the Windows EXE is not signed.

Superpowers Beta 4.3 — Capture MIDI fix (Bitwig 6.1.3, macOS + Windows)
Superpowers Beta 4.3 — Capture MIDI fix
For macOS and Windows with Bitwig Studio 6.1.3. Installing it over Beta 4, 4.1
or 4.2 updates in place; no need to restore first.
| Platform | Supported official Bitwig | Download |
|---|---|---|
| macOS 13+ Apple Silicon | 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3 | Bitwig-Superpowers-macOS-AppleSilicon-Beta-4.3.dmg |
| Windows x64 | 6.1.1, 6.1.3 | Superpowers-Windows-x64-Beta-4.3.exe |
Fixes (Bitwig 6.1.3)
- Capture MIDI placed every clip at bar 1.1.1. It read a position that was
always 0, so it also never noticed the transport was running. It now reads the
real playhead: while playing, your notes stay on the bars where you played
them; while stopped, the clip goes to the bar where the cursor is.
(#5,
#6) - Capture MIDI could replace an existing clip. If the selected track
already has a clip where the capture would go, the capture now goes to a new
track instead. Nothing is overwritten.
Everything else is unchanged from Beta 4.1 (macOS) and Beta 4.2 (Windows).
Capture MIDI tip
The captured clip opens on only the last bars before you clicked Capture, so it
can look empty. Everything you played in the last five minutes is already in it:
drag the clip's left edge to the left to reveal the earlier notes.
Installer logs
If anything fails, please send the installer log (macOS:
~/Library/Logs/Bitwig Superpowers/; Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Bitwig Superpowers\Logs\) and the Superpowers log
(macOS: ~/Library/Logs/Bitwig/superpowers.log; Windows:
C:\Users\<you>\Library\Logs\Bitwig\superpowers.log).
Testing status
- The Capture MIDI change was tested inside Bitwig 6.1.3 on macOS: playing,
stopped, and with an existing clip in the way. - macOS installer: upgrade from 4.1, restore, fresh install and reinstall
tested on a copy of Bitwig 6.1.3. - Windows installer: the same Capture change in the Windows JAR; upgrade from
4.2, restore and fresh install tested with the installer's own worker under
Wine against the official Bitwig 6.1.3 Windows files. Not yet confirmed on a
Windows 10/11 PC — please report what works. - The Mac app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized; the Windows EXE is not signed.

Superpowers Beta 4.2 — Windows installer fix (Bitwig 6.1.3)
Superpowers Beta 4.2 — Windows installer fix
Windows-only hotfix for Beta 4.1. macOS stays on
Beta 4.1 (no changes).
| Platform | Supported official Bitwig | Download |
|---|---|---|
| Windows x64 | 6.1.1, 6.1.3 | Superpowers-Windows-x64-Beta-4.2.exe |
Fixes
- Audio Tools setup failed on Bitwig 6.1.3 with
No module named 'install',
and because it ran first, nothing got installed. Fixed. The installer now also
installs the tools (MIDI Tools, Capture MIDI, Freeze) before setting up Audio
Tools, so an Audio Tools problem can no longer leave Bitwig unpatched. - Capture MIDI icon: Windows now gets the proper Capture icon (dot with a
circular arrow) instead of Bitwig's plain record dot.
The Superpowers JAR itself is unchanged from Beta 4.1.
Updating
Close Bitwig and run Beta 4.2. For Stem Separation and Audio to MIDI → Drums,
check both Set up Audio Tools and Include Demucs stem separation. Stay
online the first time you separate stems; the model downloads once.
Installer logs
If anything fails, please send the installer log from
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Bitwig Superpowers\Logs\ (Open installer log) and
C:\Users\<you>\Library\Logs\Bitwig\superpowers.log.
Testing status
Tested on a real Windows Server 2022 machine with official Bitwig 6.1.3:
Beta 4.1 reproduces the error; Beta 4.2 installs, sets up Audio Tools with
Demucs, restores and reinstalls. The audio engine produced stems, melody,
chords and drum MIDI with the same arguments Bitwig uses. Not yet confirmed
inside Bitwig on a Windows 10/11 PC — please report what works. The EXE is not
signed.

Superpowers Beta 4.1 — Track Freeze fix (Bitwig 6.1.3, macOS + Windows)
Superpowers Beta 4.1 — Track Freeze fix
Hotfix for Beta 4. Same tools and supported versions:
| Platform | Supported official Bitwig | Download |
|---|---|---|
| macOS Apple Silicon | 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3 | Bitwig-Superpowers-macOS-AppleSilicon-Beta-4.1.dmg |
| Windows x64 | 6.1.1, 6.1.3 | Superpowers-Windows-x64-Beta-4.1.exe |
Fix
Track Freeze could leave the audio engine paused (playback ran without sound and
Unfreeze kept reporting that a render was active). Freeze applied the native frozen
state — which unloads the track's plug-ins — while Bitwig was bringing the engine
back from the offline render; if the engine asked to restart at that moment, the
request was dropped and the engine stayed paused. Freeze now waits until the engine
is back in realtime before suspending the track's devices. For about half a second
after a Freeze the original devices are still active.
Validated by the maintainer in Bitwig 6.1.3 on macOS: three consecutive
Freeze/Unfreeze cycles on a track with third-party plug-ins, including Undo.
Updating from Beta 4
Just run Beta 4.1: it recognizes the Beta 4 installation on Bitwig 6.1.3 and
updates it in place from the verified official backup that Beta 4 kept. Restore
Original still returns the official Bitwig JAR. Bitwig 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 packages
are unchanged.
Installer logs
If anything fails, please attach the installer log to a GitHub issue:
macOS ~/Library/Logs/Bitwig Superpowers/ (the installer has Show Log in Finder),
Windows %LOCALAPPDATA%\Bitwig Superpowers\Logs\ (Open installer log).
Testing status
- macOS 6.1.3: installer tested on a copy of official 6.1.3 — fresh install,
upgrade from Beta 4, restore. Only Freeze's two classes differ from Beta 4. - Windows 6.1.3: same installer tests under CrossOver; not yet run on a real
Windows PC, and Audio to MIDI / Stems not yet run end to end there. - The Mac app is ad-hoc signed (not notarized); the Windows EXE is not signed.

Superpowers Beta 4 — Bitwig 6.1.3 (macOS + Windows)
Superpowers Beta 4 — Bitwig 6.1.3, audio clip menu, Capture MIDI, Track Freeze
Native installers for macOS (Apple Silicon, macOS 13+) and Windows 10/11 x64.
| Platform | Supported official Bitwig | Download |
|---|---|---|
| macOS Apple Silicon | 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3 | Bitwig-Superpowers-macOS-AppleSilicon-Beta-4.dmg |
| Windows x64 | 6.1.1, 6.1.3 | Superpowers-Windows-x64-Beta-4.exe |
New for Bitwig 6.1.3
- Audio clip right-click menu: right-click an audio clip in the Arranger →
Separate Stems (vocals, drums, bass, other) or Audio to MIDI (Melody,
Harmony, Drums) with a Sensitivity control, progress and cancel. Audio Tools
moved here from the Inspector; MIDI Tools stay in the Inspector. - Capture MIDI: retrieve what you just played (computer keyboard or MIDI
keyboard) as a clip — from the Capture MIDI section in the Play menu or the
toolbar button next to the transport. - Track Freeze: right-click a track → Freeze / Unfreeze.
- MIDI Tools with the experimental tools, 18 arpeggio styles and the piano-roll
grid shortcuts, as before. - The modified-JAR audio compatibility change (no warning melody) is included
and checked at build time for every package.
Bitwig 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 keep exactly the packages of Beta 3 (macOS) and Beta 2
(Windows); the new tools require 6.1.3.
Installer logs — please send them with any report
Every operation now writes a log:
- macOS:
~/Library/Logs/Bitwig Superpowers/installer-<date>-<command>.log.
On failure the installer shows the path with Show Log in Finder and Copy Log. - Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Bitwig Superpowers\Logs\installer-<date>.log.
On failure the status shows the path; Open installer log opens it.
The log contains the installer version, OS version, detected Bitwig version,
the SHA-256 of bitwig.jar and the full error. It does not contain your
projects, license or credentials. Open a GitHub issue and attach it.
Updating
- Bitwig 6.1.3: install official Bitwig 6.1.3 first, quit it, then run Beta 4.
- If you updated Bitwig while an older Superpowers was installed, Bitwig's own
update already replaced the patched files; just run Beta 4. - Beta 3 (macOS 6.1.1/6.1.2) and Beta 2 (Windows 6.1.1) installations are
recognized as installed; nothing changes for them.
Known issue — Track Freeze
Fixed in Beta 4.1 — please use Beta 4.1.
Freeze could occasionally leave Bitwig's audio engine paused right after the render
(playback runs but there is no sound, and Unfreeze reports that a render is still
active). To recover on Beta 4, save and reopen the project (or restart Bitwig).
Testing status (be aware — this is a beta)
- macOS 6.1.3: the patched JAR is class-for-class identical to the build the
maintainer uses daily in Bitwig 6.1.3 (MIDI Tools, audio clip menu, Capture
MIDI and Freeze validated interactively), minus third-party additions. The
installer was tested on a copy of official 6.1.3: install, reinstall, restore,
and refusal of an unknown JAR. - Windows 6.1.3: built by the new version-independent porting pipeline and
checked offline (every changed class links, every reference resolves). It
starts in Bitwig 6.1.3 and the audio clip menu and Freeze appear, tested under
CrossOver on a Mac — not yet on a real Windows PC. Audio to MIDI / Stems
on Windows 6.1.3 have not been run end to end. Please report what works. - The Windows Capture MIDI button uses Bitwig's native transport icon.
- Linux is not supported yet.
- The Mac app is ad-hoc signed (not notarized); the Windows EXE is not signed.

Windows Beta 1.2 — Bitwig 6.1.1 — Compiled Runtime
Windows Beta 1.2 — compiled installer package
For Bitwig Studio 6.1.1 x64 Windows only. Extract the entire ZIP and keep it
for restoration. Use the attached Compiled.zip, not GitHub's Source code archive.
Requires official Python 3.11 x64. Save projects and close Bitwig, its audio
engine and plug-in hosts. From Command Prompt in the extracted folder:
Windows-Installer.cmd check --feature midi
Windows-Installer.cmd install --feature midiFor MIDI + Audio Tools, use --feature audio instead. Audio setup is separate:
Setup-Audio.cmd --ffmpeg-directory "C:\Your FFmpeg Folder\bin"Use --demucs for optional stem separation. Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime is
also required. Read the included README and third-party notices first. Installation
is local; dependencies and models download separately.
Beta 1.2 fixes Analyze's resolution of bundled FFmpeg/ffprobe without relying on
the global PATH. The source branch's Analyze, stems, melody and chords were tested
on native Windows; the compiled package's reconstruction was checked separately.
Compilation does not establish new GUI acceptance for every package variant.
Restore with Windows-Installer.cmd restore. Unknown versions or modified inputs
are rejected; this package does not automatically support 6.1.2 or 6.1.3.
Includes compiled Python runtime components, no readable Python/Java development
source or vendor JARs. This is not a signed native EXE installer. Bytecode can
be reverse-engineered; do not treat compilation as encryption.
SHA-256: 30aada9c4b989956beea72f632c45e0eaa417472e77b2a3b340f7d021748ed3f
macOS Native Installer Beta 1.0.1 — Audio Tools Fix
Native macOS installer — Beta 1.0.1 (Audio Tools fix)
Apple Silicon · macOS 13+ · reviewed exact Bitwig Studio 6.1.1 / 6.1.2 baselines.
Download Bitwig-Superpowers-macOS-AppleSilicon-Beta-1.0.1.dmg. Save projects and
close Bitwig, its audio engine and plug-in hosts. Open the installer, enable
Set up Audio Tools, optionally enable Include Demucs stem separation, and
click Install Tools or Verify & Set Up. No manual restore is needed for
the exact patch already installed by the previous native Mac beta.
This update fixes legacy Java bridges requiring audio_dna_engine/__main__.py
while the engine was distributed only as bytecode. A public three-line launcher
now starts the compiled engine. The private analysis/patching implementations are
not distributed as readable source. It also resolves included FFmpeg/ffprobe
directly from the runtime rather than relying on a global PATH.
Existing runtimes and verified Bitwig backups are retained. Updated runtime files
receive a new content fingerprint; configuration is published only after the
entry point and bundled media resolution have passed verification.
Includes the orange Superpowers branding, process-local Montserrat fonts, the
optional Buy Me a Coffee link, private Python and minimal LGPL audio FFmpeg.
Audio packages download during setup; optional Demucs model weights download on
first use. Bitwig Studio, vendor JARs and licenses are not included. Unknown or
unrecognized modified versions are rejected without patching.
Evidence and limits
- Audio dependency setup with Demucs and installation on isolated complete Mac
Bitwig 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 copies passed; neither live app nor user projects changed. - Both compiled runtimes decoded a generated WAV using included media with the
global PATH restricted and produced melody/chord MIDI plus JSON. - The actual local 6.1.1 Java Analyze worker detected both runtimes and produced
analysis reports in isolated caches. UI dispatch cannot be tested headlessly;
a fresh interactive Analyze/drag-and-drop/stems acceptance check remains needed. - The compiled Studio runtime exported an HTDemucs four-stem manifest using
locally cached results, with four WAV paths. Fresh model/download edge cases
remain unverified by this packaging test. - Two packaging regression tests and 17 audio engine tests passed. Strict bundle
signature and DMG integrity verification passed.
This beta is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. Do not disable
system-wide security protections. Test on backed-up projects. Compiled code is
reverse-engineerable. The separate FFmpeg corresponding-source ZIP is for the
LGPL third-party utilities, not Superpowers development source.
This installer does not self-analyze arbitrary future Bitwig releases. New
profiles require maintainer review and a new installer release.
Superseded — macOS Native Installer Beta 1
Superseded: use Beta 1.0.1
The original native Mac Beta 1 has an Audio Tools packaging incompatibility:
its Java bridge requires a source entry-point filename but its engine entry point
was distributed only as bytecode. Analyze and Create Stems can fail immediately.
Download the corrected Beta 1.0.1 installer
instead. Close Bitwig and use Verify & Set Up with Audio Tools enabled to
configure the corrected runtime. Existing verified patch backups are retained.
This historical release remains available for provenance, not as the recommended
installer. Both versions are ad-hoc signed, not notarized.
macOS Beta 1 — Bitwig 6.1.1 — Compiled Runtime
macOS Beta 1 — compiled installer package
For Bitwig Studio 6.1.1 on macOS Apple Silicon only. This is a compiled-runtime
repackaging of the previous 6.1.1 beta, not the newer 6.1.2 universal developer tool.
Use the attached Compiled.zip, not GitHub's Source code archive.
Requires Python 3.11, including MIDI-only installation. Extract the complete
ZIP, save projects and quit Bitwig, its audio engine and plug-in hosts.
- MIDI only: open
Install-MIDI-Only.command. - MIDI + Audio Tools: open
Install.command; FFmpeg/ffprobe are also required. - Restore: quit Bitwig and open
Restore.command.
Read the included installation guide, compatibility notes and third-party notices.
Keep the extracted folder for restoration. Optional Demucs dependencies/models
download separately. The installer checks exact hashes and creates a backup.
The previous 6.1.1 runtime had maintainer GUI testing. This repackaging has startup
and checksum rejection checks, not a fresh full 6.1.1 installation/restore acceptance
run. Treat it as beta software and test on backed-up projects. Unknown versions are
rejected; 6.1.2 and future versions are not supported by this download.
Includes compiled Python runtime components, no readable Python/Java development
source or vendor JARs. This is not a signed/notarized native PKG installer.
Bytecode can be reverse-engineered; compilation is not encryption.
