CrewNotch v1.5.0

@karabogadev karabogadev released this 02 Nov 06:05

The notch, anywhere on your monitor

  • Move it along the top edge. On an external monitor, press and hold the notch and slide it left or right. It snaps to the middle, and each monitor remembers its own spot. On a MacBook it stays on the camera, as before.
  • See where it goes. Settings → General now shows your displays as macOS arranges them, with the notch on the one it's shown on. Click a display to move it there, or drag the notch on a monitor. It glows for a moment so you can spot it.
  • No more covering your tabs. On a monitor the closed notch is now only as tall as the menu bar, so it no longer hangs over window tabs and title bars.

Fixes

  • Clicking a moved notch no longer opens the app menu behind it.
  • With the notch on a monitor of a different height, clicking outside the open panel now reaches the right spot.

No more keychain prompts for Claude usage

macOS kept asking to let CrewNotch read "Claude Code-credentials", even after you chose Always Allow. Claude Code rewrites that keychain item every time it refreshes its sign-in, and each rewrite dropped CrewNotch's permission.

CrewNotch now reads the sign-in the same way Claude Code does, through the system's security tool. That tool is already allowed to read the item, so macOS doesn't ask and no new permission is granted. As before, the sign-in is only read, never changed.

omux support

CrewNotch now recognizes omux as a terminal.

  • Click a session to bring omux forward. CrewNotch brings the omux window to the front. It can't pick the session's tab yet, because omux doesn't offer a way for other apps to do that.
  • No sounds or notifications when you're already looking. While omux is the frontmost app, CrewNotch treats its sessions like those in any other terminal and stays quiet.
  • Approving from the notch works in omux like everywhere else. If you answer in the notch, omux doesn't show its own prompt.

@karabogadev karabogadev released this 01 Nov 11:04

What's new

  • CrewNotch is now in the Dock. Click its icon to open Settings. Right-click it for Settings, Token history and Check for Updates, or to quit.
  • A real menu bar. While CrewNotch is in front, its menu has About, Check for Updates…, Settings… (⌘,), Token history and Quit (⌘Q).
  • Prefer the notch only? Turn off Show in Dock in Settings → General. CrewNotch then lives in the notch as before, and the gear there still opens Settings.

CrewNotch v1.3.2

@karabogadev karabogadev released this 01 Nov 10:55

What's new

  • Resize the panel. Drag the small grip at the bottom of the opened notch: up and down for height, sideways for width. CrewNotch remembers the size. Double-click the grip to go back to the automatic size.

What's fixed

  • Clicking near the bottom of the panel no longer closes it. The bottom strip of the panel, where the new Shortcuts toggle sits, was treated as outside the panel. The notch now knows its exact size.

CrewNotch v1.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@karabogadev karabogadev released this 01 Nov 10:46

What's new

  • Keyboard shortcuts in the notch. A new Shortcuts section at the bottom of the panel lists every key: open or close the notch, Allow, Always allow, Deny, pick an answer and close. It stays folded until you open it, and remembers your choice.
  • A clearer Keep Awake icon. The hourglass is now a coffee cup, which steams while Keep Awake is on.

What's fixed

  • Claude usage works again for some setups. If Claude Code was ever run with sudo, the keychain kept a second, outdated sign-in that CrewNotch could pick up, showing "Open Claude Code to renew sign-in" even though you were signed in. CrewNotch now reads the sign-in that belongs to your user. macOS may ask once to allow this: choose Always Allow.
  • The header showed "^[2 agent](inflect: true)" instead of "2 agents". Fixed.

A cleaner notch

The opened notch has a new, quieter look that puts the important things first.

  • Rows instead of cards. Sessions are divided by fine lines. A small square lamp shows each one's state: it breathes while the agent works, turns amber when it needs you and green when it's done.
  • A stopwatch for each turn. Working sessions show how long the current turn has been running.
  • Requests are easier to read. The tool, the folder and the full command sit on one plate, with Deny, Always and Allow below it. Their keyboard shortcuts are shown right on the buttons. Risky commands get a red outline.
  • Plan usage looks ahead. Usage is shown as a segmented meter. Faint segments show where you'll be by the reset if you keep your current pace. If a limit is going to run out before it resets, you'll see when, for example "out in 1d 6h". This works for Claude Code and Codex.
  • A new working indicator, Scanner, is now the default. If you picked a different style in Settings, you keep it.
  • The header shows how many agents you have and what needs you first.

CrewNotch v1.2.2

Choose a tag to compare

@karabogadev karabogadev released this 01 Nov 09:25

What's fixed

  • Finished sessions no longer stay on "Working". When a turn ended while CrewNotch was still reading the conversation, the session could fall back to "Working" and stay there until the next prompt. It now always shows "Done".
  • Much lighter on long sessions. CrewNotch reread a session's whole conversation file after every tool call. Long chats grow to tens of megabytes, which kept the app busy and used a lot of CPU. It now reads only what was added since the last read.
  • Settings panes keep a proper title bar while you scroll, so the title no longer overlaps the content.

CrewNotch v1.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@karabogadev karabogadev released this 01 Nov 09:17

What's fixed

  • One sound when an agent finishes. A finished turn also played the approval sound and the "needs you" animation, so you heard two sounds at once. Now you hear only the finished sound, and the approval sound is saved for real approvals and questions.
  • A second approval in the same session now gets its own sound.

What's new

Know what you approve

  • Approvals show the whole command, the diff of an edit or the start of a new file before you allow them.
  • Risky requests get a red warning: deleting files, force-pushing, sudo, running downloaded scripts, editing secrets or files outside the project.
  • Always saves the rule Claude Code suggests (like Bash(npm test:*)) so it stops asking.
  • OpenCode requests can now be answered from the notch too.

Answer Claude's questions in the notch

  • When Claude Code asks you to choose, pick an option, tick several or type your own answer, right in the notch.

Keyboard first

  • A global shortcut opens the notch from any app (⌃⌥N by default; change it in Settings → General).
  • Then ⌘↩ allows, ⌘⇧↩ always allows, ⌘⌫ denies, 1–9 picks an answer and ⎋ closes.

More in every row

  • The git branch, how full the context window is (Claude Code, Codex), and the agent's own to-do progress, like 3/7 · Writing tests.
  • A session that has been working without a sound for a while is marked as quiet, so a stuck one is easy to spot and clear.

When you're away

  • Mac notifications and pushes to your phone through ntfy, always or only after you've stepped away. Both are off until you turn them on in Settings → Notifications.
  • The notch tells you when a plan limit runs low and when it resets.

Also new

  • crewnotch run npm test shows any long command in the notch and tells you when it finishes or fails. Install the command in Settings → General.
  • Recently ended sessions stay at the bottom of the list. Resume reopens the conversation in a terminal.
  • Hide the notch from screen sharing and recordings (Settings → General → Privacy).
  • A new Approvals pane in Settings. Every new feature can be turned off or tuned.
