Statup backs itself up, and installs without Docker on Linux and Windows Server.

What's new

  • Automatic backups. Statup backs itself up every day at 03:00 and before each upgrade that changes the database, keeping the latest seven, without stopping. Settings › Backups sets when (every day, every week or never), at what time and how many are kept, lists the backups with Download, and downloads a new one on the spot.
  • Restore a backup. On a new server, Restore a backup on the first screen brings an instance back from a file of your computer or from the backups already on the server. statup backup and statup restore do the same on the command line.
  • Linux without Docker. One command installs Statup as a systemd service, asking each choice with its default or taking them as options, checks the download against its checksum, and updates Statup when run again.
  • Windows Server without Docker. One command installs Statup as a Windows service, restarted by Windows after a failure, with the account of your choice, the firewall rule and a share for the backups if you want one, and updates Statup when run again.
  • Ready-to-run archives for Linux (x86_64 and aarch64) and Windows (x86_64) are attached below, with their SHA-256 checksums.

Install without Docker

On Linux with systemd, as root:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/karl-cta/statup/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sudo sh

On Windows Server, in PowerShell opened as an administrator:

irm https://github.com/karl-cta/statup/releases/latest/download/install.ps1 | iex

Upgrade

Next to your docker-compose.yml:

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Nothing else to change: the database stays as it is, and Statup takes its first backup when it starts, in a backups folder next to the database. BACKUP_DIR writes them elsewhere. Every change is listed in the changelog.

Which file?

Most installs need none of the files below: Docker pulls the image, and the commands above download the right archive themselves. The archives are for a server without access to GitHub (Linux, Windows Server).
