Description

Under certain rare circumstances, Aural Player may crash on startup. If it does, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Compatibility - Refer to the compatibility table to make sure that the version of Aural Player you are using is compatible with your Mac hardware and macOS version. It is generally recommended that you use the latest released app version. To check your Aural Player version, click the menu item Aural > About Aural; the version number will be displayed in the dialog that pops up.

  2. Persisted app state - The app state that was persisted the last time you exited Aural Player may be causing the problem. If so, you may try deleting the folder containing it and restarting the app. But before you delete it, please copy the file aural.log somewhere outside the folder. And also note that deleting the folder will cause you to lose all your app settings (playlist, history, color schemes, etc.).

NOTE - If you have never run the app before, this folder will not exist. In that case, skip this step.

    App state folder image

On version 2.3.0 (or newer versions), the app state will be stored in /Users/YourUsername/Music/aural.
On version 2.2.0 (or older versions), the app state will be stored in /Users/YourUsername/Documents/aural.

  3. Check the log file - Open the log file aural.log referred to in step 2 above. Look for any explanatory messages printed within it. If it doesn't make sense, please file a GitHub issue and attach the log file or share a link to it.

  4. Get the latest version - If none of the above steps helped, and you don't already have the latest app version, please upgrade to the latest released app version. If that doesn't help, please file a GitHub issue with your app log and system information.
