Ariane 1.1.0
Ariane 1.1.0
Ariane now has a touch layout for phones, a light theme, and a choice of how to open the menu during a stream. On TV nothing changes.
What's new
Light and dark themes
- A new Theme setting (Settings → Appearance): System, Light or Dark. System follows your device. TVs stay dark, and so does the stream.
- On Android 12 and later, the colours come from your wallpaper.
Built for phones
- Settings is a list of categories with search. Open one to see its options, jump between its sections with the chips at the top, and use the back arrow to return.
- Home shows your hosts as rows, with the running game and its Resume and Quit buttons under the title.
- Apps has a compact top bar. Long-press a host or a game and its options rise from the bottom of the screen.
- Tablets use the same drill-down Settings when held upright, and the two-pane Settings when the window is wide.
Open the stream menu your way
- A new Stream menu setting (Settings → Appearance): Visible handle, Floating button or Nothing on screen.
- The handle is a small tab on the right edge of the stream. Tap it to open the menu, drag it up or down to move it. It fades when you leave it alone, and the rest of the edge still has Android's Back gesture.
- The handle and the floating button hide while a gamepad is connected, because a gamepad opens the menu with Start: tap it, then press and hold it. A switch in Settings turns the hiding off. All of this needs Back Menu to be on, as it is by default.
- New installs get the handle on phones and tablets, and nothing on screen on TV.
Interface
- A new Interface setting (Automatic, TV, Touch) lets you override the layout Ariane picks for your device.
If you are updating from 1.0.x
- Theme: Ariane now follows your device by default, so if your phone is in light mode, Ariane will look light. To keep it dark: Settings → Appearance → Theme → Dark.
- Floating Button: the switch is now part of the Stream menu setting. If you had the floating button on, you still do. If not, nothing appears on screen. To try the handle, pick Visible handle under Settings → Appearance → Stream menu.
- TV layouts and controls are unchanged.
