Job Tracker AI v0.2.4 — refreshed desktop design
Job Tracker AI v0.2.4 — refreshed desktop design
Changed in v0.2.4
The desktop workspace has a consistent green visual identity across all five
screens, with clearer headings, more prominent primary actions, and refined
light and dark themes. Application rows now separate the company, role, stage,
outcome, and applied date so records are easier to scan. The sidebar shows the
number of emails awaiting review.
Settings controls wrap at smaller window sizes. Dropdowns, inputs, buttons,
keyboard focus, help indicators, and expand/collapse controls share consistent
styling; drawn chevrons and help controls avoid missing font symbols.
This download also includes the tracking improvements merged since v0.2.3:
company/role matching, local review recovery, chronological email updates, and
redundant-email filtering with preserved audit history. See the README and
email decision logic documentation for the exact matching and date rules.
All 224 automated source tests pass locally, including desktop navigation at
1080 × 720 and 1600 × 1000 in both themes and keyboard dropdown selection.
README screenshots use fictional records. No real mailbox or paid AI requests
were used for this validation. Existing records and credentials are preserved
when upgrading; credential setup requirements remain the same.
Changed in v0.2.3
Imports now recover automatically from temporary OpenAI failures, including HTTP
503, connection failures/timeouts, and explicit rate limits. Classification and
extraction each allow up to four attempts with increasing waits and jitter.
Provider Retry-After delays are respected up to two minutes per wait. The banner
shows the upcoming attempt, the dashboard stays usable, and Pause interrupts
the wait immediately.
Each attempt reserves budget before dispatch; the app never increases your
spending limit automatically. Completed AI stages stay cached, so extraction
retries do not repeat successful classification. Failed requests without usage
receipts keep conservative reservations; recorded usage/reservations may exceed
actual charges shown in OpenAI's billing dashboard.
Persistent failures, longer provider waits, invalid keys, quota problems, and
spending limits still pause safely. Resume later after fixing the cause. Existing
records, imports, and credentials are preserved during the update. Successful
resumed jobs clear their previous error messages.
All 137 source tests pass, including mocked HTTP through the actual OpenAI SDK
and Qt interaction during a retry wait. No real mailbox or paid API calls were
used for these tests.
Changed in v0.2.2
Public downloads contain no application database, saved email records, connected
mailboxes, API keys, or OAuth client JSON. Packaging now rejects local databases,
workbooks, token/configuration files, SQLite content disguised under another
filename, and recognizable OpenAI secret keys. Automated checks launch the frozen
app without --demo and verify an empty search with no application/mail records.
An update or reinstall preserves the current Windows user's existing local
database and OS credentials. Source and installed builds share that state.
Seeing previous records on that same computer does not mean they were bundled
in the download. Settings and the privacy documentation now explain this.
Added 14 privacy-guard regression cases; all 103 source tests pass. Duplicate
release workflows leave existing releases and their assets unchanged.
Changed in v0.2.1
The window's X button and Alt+F4 now quit the app instead of hiding it in
the system tray. Shutdown cancels imports, waits for active workers to finish,
and releases the database and installer locks. Saved import progress can be
resumed after reopening. Minimize the window to keep automatic processing running.
Added process-level regression tests with and without a tray icon, including
active import/read workers and database-lock release. All 89 source tests pass.
An open-source Windows desktop app that uses OpenAI Decisions with GPT-6 Luna
for email classification and GPT-5.4 mini with structured extraction to build
application records, event history, and a searchable review inbox.
Windows x64 downloads need no Python installation:
- Job-Tracker-AI-Setup.exe: per-user installer with shortcuts and uninstall support.
- Job-Tracker-AI-Windows-x64.zip: unzip the whole folder, then run Job-Tracker-AI.exe.
- Job-Tracker-AI-Setup-Guide.html: standalone instructions you can open in a browser, also included in the app.
- Job-Tracker-AI-Dependency-Sources.zip: matching Qt/PySide/certifi sources, provenance, hashes, and library replacement instructions.
- SHA256SUMS.txt: checksums for all downloadable assets.
User-owned credentials
This release intentionally requires your own OpenAI API key and Google
Desktop OAuth registration or Microsoft Application client ID. No shared
project-owned sign-in configuration or user credentials are bundled. The welcome
wizard and complete offline guide explain each registration step. Open Help &
setup guide from the sidebar or press F1. The installer also creates a guide
Start menu shortcut. Shared one-click onboarding is outside this release's scope.
Choose Gmail, Outlook, or all mailboxes for new history scans and automatic
processing. Existing job records remain visible. Automatic processing is off by
default; connecting email does not start AI processing.
Included behavior
- Separate named searches, application editing, event timelines, tasks, and per-search Excel export with dropdowns.
- Oldest-first historical imports, spending limits, durable queues, cached AI results, pause/resume, and restart recovery.
- Collapsed/searchable review cards, clear unmatched update records, and confirmation-only applied dates.
- Search metadata editing, removable import history preserving records/usage, light/dark mode, and contextual setup help.
- Read-only connectors, OS-backed credential storage, and optional session-only credentials.
Historical imports now keep navigation, local search, review expansion, and Pause
responsive. Database refreshes and timelines run in a separate background worker;
progress no longer rebuilds the entire interface. Interrupted imports offer
Resume after restarting, preserving completed records and recorded usage.
Validation and disclosed limits
Automated tests use fictional mail and fake model responses. Windows/Linux checks,
frozen launch/rendering/integrity tests, and isolated cross-version installer tests
cover integration behavior and record preservation. They do not establish measured
classifier accuracy or compatibility with every real provider account.
Decisions is currently an OpenAI public-beta API; your project must have access.
The build is unsigned. Google/Microsoft account consent policies still apply.
AI sends selected email text to OpenAI and uses your API credits. Manual tracking
and Excel import/export have no API costs. Records stay in local, unencrypted
SQLite. Uninstalling preserves the database and OS credentials.
When upgrading from v0.2.0 or older, use Quit in the tray menu to close that
version completely first. From v0.2.1 onward, closing the window is sufficient.
See README, the setup guide, PRIVACY.md, and
docs/release-checklist.md for limitations and validation status.
