Engine floor moves to kglite 0.17.10, a pure Cypher-executor fix release: cargo semver-checks reports no API change across 196 checks, codingest
needed no source edit, and every frozen golden digest is byte-identical
across the move. The floor moves anyway because both upstream fixes were silent wrong answers on the query surface codingest query and the
embedded codingest-mcp server expose.
A non-aggregating WITH is a scope barrier again. Upstream projected the
row's values but left node, edge and path identity bindings in place, so a
name the projection dropped stayed silently bound: a later MATCH on that
name anchored the stale node instead of scanning, count(*) behind the
barrier counted 1 instead of the label, and CREATE / SET / MERGE / FOREACH after such a WITH acted on nothing, with no error and no warning. WITH n AS m now frees n; WITH * and a projected WITH n keep their
bindings as before. An aggregatingWITH was correct throughout.
* written beside another projection item now expands. Alone it always
did; alongside anything else — WITH *, a + 1 AS b — it was projected like
an ordinary expression, producing a column literally named * while every
value-carrying name in scope was dropped. Two spellings lost whole rows
rather than cells: WITH *, count(*) AS c grouped by that constant, and WITH DISTINCT *, 1 AS k deduplicated every row down to one. RETURN * now
also lists a path variable, and where * and an explicit item would project
the same name the explicit item wins.
Neither shape reaches codingest's own Cypher. The builder writes graphs
and never queries them, and the shipped code-review recipe catalogue, skill
examples, CLI query paths and contract tests contain no WITH clause and no * projection — verified by grep across assets/code_review/recipes.json,
both skills/ trees, crates/codingest-cli/src/query.rs and the CLI/MCP
test suites, then by running the full battery against the new engine.
Live floor declarations moved together: the Rust kglite and kglite-mcp-server requirements, Python requirement, CI wheel pin,
import-failure hint, bundled code-review skill and current README/docs
snippets now require 0.17.10. Historical release, parity and benchmark
records remain unchanged.
