DERA v0.1.0-alpha.1 — Foundation & Monorepo Architecture
Pre-releaseDERA v0.1.0-alpha.1 — Foundation & Monorepo Architecture
Database Engineering & Reverse Analysis
Understand Every Schema. Engineer Every Change.
Overview
This pre-release marks the initial foundation milestone of DERA, an open-source platform being developed for deterministic database engineering, schema inspection, reverse analysis, and structural visualization.
The release scope covers Phase 1.1 — Repository Audit & Baseline Verification and Phase 1.2 — Monorepo Folder Architecture.
This is an early development milestone intended for contributors, maintainers, and technical reviewers. It is not a production-ready database engineering release.
Development Milestones
Phase 1.1 — Repository Audit & Baseline Verification
Scope of the foundational audit:
Repository structure and configuration assessment
Source code and architecture inventory
GitHub Actions and security configuration review
Documentation and community governance assessment
Dependency and testing baseline review
Engineering risk and gap identification
Phase 1.2 — Monorepo Folder Architecture
Scope of the architectural foundation:
Modular monorepo design
Application and package boundaries
Python backend workspace foundation
TypeScript frontend workspace foundation
Shared engineering contracts
Developer configuration and tooling
Architecture documentation and module dependency rules
Engineering Architecture
DERA is designed around modular responsibilities:
Component | Intended responsibility -- | -- apps/web | Frontend application and visual engineering studio apps/api | Backend API and service orchestration packages/core | Deterministic schema engineering logic packages/connectors | Database-specific metadata inspection packages/contracts | Shared interfaces and data contracts tests | Automated engineering validation infrastructure | Local and future deployment infrastructure docs | Architecture and developer documentationIndividual components may still be incomplete or planned.
Technical Principles
DERA follows these principles:
Deterministic and reproducible engineering
Secure-by-design architecture
Metadata-only inspection by default
Read-only database access principles
Modular and maintainable code organization
Open-source collaboration
No AI inference dependencies
Current Limitations
This is an alpha foundation release.
Database connectors, schema reverse engineering, ER diagram generation, diagnostic rules, migration planning, and production deployment capabilities should not be considered generally available until implemented and verified in future milestones.
The release does not certify production readiness, security compliance, or compatibility with any particular database engine.
What's Next
The next development milestone is:
Phase 1.3 — Git Branching, Conventional Commits & Contribution Workflow
Future milestones will expand the engineering foundation toward database inspection, schema analysis, visualization, and production hardening.
Contributing
Contributions, technical reviews, issue reports, and architecture feedback are welcome.
