Install
Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple: download, drag it to Applications, open it.
A nightly: each day's changes, tested less than a stable release. It updates to newer nightlies and stable releases (Bay › Check for Updates…); Settings › General › Update channel switches back to Stable, which never downgrades.
Bay 1.5.4
Added
- The bay command. Script Bay from the terminal: open tabs, read pages and history, and install user scripts that
run on the sites they match. Install it from Settings › Advanced › Terminal, and turn on "Let the bay command
control Bay" to allow it. Its tabs open behind the page you're on, and private windows never load its scripts. - Pinned split views. Pin a split view to the sidebar and it reopens side by side.
- Reorder spaces by dragging their icons at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Clear Cookies and Cache from the command bar.
- Update channels. Choose Stable or Nightly in Settings › General. Nightly gets new builds first.
Improved
- Setup. Drag your old browser onto Bay to import from it. You can skip steps, pick up where you left off, and
search during setup. - Link previews spring out of the link you clicked and back into it when closed.
- One space hides the sidebar's space header.
- Sidebar on the right. The window buttons sit in its header, as they do on the left, instead of on a band over
the page. - The installer opens in a styled window.
Fixed
- Pages without a background of their own show white, or their dark-mode canvas, instead of the window's colours
under their text.

Bay 1.5.3
Fixed
- Full-screen video on streaming sites keeps playing on its own desktop when you swipe to another one. It used to
leave full screen and bring the Bay window back.
Removed
- Battery Saver. Bay no longer pauses busy background tabs on battery or in Low Power Mode, and the setting is
gone from Settings › Advanced.

Bay 1.5.2
Fixed
- Full-screen video on streaming sites stays the size of the screen. It could shrink back to the size of its tab
while still in full screen, when something in Bay changed behind it.

Bay 1.5.1
Fixed
- Full-screen video on streaming sites fills the screen without leaving the Bay window behind on your desktop,
as on every other site. The window comes back when you leave full screen, and switching tabs while a video is full
screen takes it out of full screen. - Streaming sites no longer cover the tab you're looking at after you switch spaces.
- Window controls that appear when you hover over the window's corner have a background, so they stay readable
over the page.

Bay 1.5.0
Added
- Capture. Press
⇧⌘2to capture part of a page, then copy, save, share or mark it up. Capture Full Page
saves the whole page, and Capture in Portrait frames it on your space's colours. - Easels and Library. Collect captures, images, links, text and drawings on a whiteboard. Move things around,
make captures live, or export an Easel as a PNG or HTML file. Library keeps your saved media, downloads,
Easels and archived tabs together. - Boosts. Change a site's colours and fonts, remove parts of a page, focus on one section, or add CSS and
JavaScript. Boosts sync between your devices; scripts stay on the Mac where you enabled them. - Sharing. Share folders, split views and selected tabs, or turn selected text into a quote card.
- Tidy Tabs. Group today's tabs by topic from the sidebar menu or command bar. Pinned tabs can suggest
shorter titles, and Tidy Downloads offers readable names for new downloads. - Link previews. Hold Shift while hovering a link for five seconds to show a preview of its page.
- Streaming sites in WebKit. Supported streaming sites open in macOS's WebKit engine by default. Choose an
engine for individual sites in Site Controls, or change the defaults in Settings › Engines. - Foldable JSON. Developer Mode shows JSON responses as a tree, with the raw text a click away.
