Choose a tag to compare

@kvksatish kvksatish released this 30 Oct 09:21

Fixes crashes that could happen when the cable was plugged in or unplugged, or a charger was connected.

  • New: warning when one MacBook is charging the other through the cable, with a one-click Use Wi-Fi Instead
  • New: Connection setting: Automatic (cable first) or Wi-Fi only
  • Annex now asks for Screen Recording once, instead of repeatedly while reconnecting
  • Latency under 1 ms shows as "<1 ms"

Install: open Annex.dmg and drag Annex to Applications on both Macs. Not notarized yet: if macOS blocks it, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

First public beta. Use your other Mac as a full-screen second display, over a Thunderbolt/USB-C cable or Wi-Fi.

Install

  1. Download Annex.dmg below and drag Annex into Applications on both Macs.
  2. Open Annex on both. On the Mac you work on, click Use as Display; on the other Mac, click Allow.
  3. First time only: allow Screen Recording when asked, then relaunch Annex.

Annex isn't notarized yet. If macOS says it can't be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

What's in 0.3

  • Fills the other Mac's whole screen at its native shape, notch area included
  • Cable preferred automatically, Wi-Fi fallback, switches mid-session
  • Automatic reconnect; windows move back when the other Mac leaves
  • Live frame rate, speed, latency; display size and position pickers
  • Activity log with one-click Report a Problem

Requires Apple silicon and macOS 14+ on both Macs.
