should this be the minimum or maximum?
AFAIK, the idea was to be able to have lower than the default 256 or am i missing something?

huh! that would mean there's some confusion surrounding this then. attached screenshot is a portion of the docstring from btcli when you run the btcli sudo trim --help

problem is i still haven't been able to test this locally because of the fastblocks issue

the changes are still on btcli staging; not sure there's a way to test.
had to go through the trimming PR on the btcli repo to confirm.
