Lerd Desktop v0.2.2

@geodro geodro released this 28 Oct 20:58

Install-Lerd.exe trusts Lerd's certificate in Windows again, and its uninstaller takes it back. Since lerd 1.38.0-beta.2 no longer ships mkcert, Setup could not find the CA and its uninstall left it trusted.

Windows, new install:

Download Install-Lerd.exe below and run it.

Linux, update an existing install:

flatpak update sh.lerd.Desktop

Linux, new install:

flatpak install --user https://lerd.sh/lerd.flatpakref

Install-Lerd.exe connects Lerd with Windows again on a fresh machine. It ran the install script lerd.sh serves, which before lerd 1.38 leaves lerd.exe out, so the last step failed; it now runs the script from the lerd release it installs.

Lerd now runs on Windows under WSL. The app holds lerd's tray menu, raises its notifications as Lerd and opens lerd:// links, and keeps lerd's Windows agent running in the background.

This release also carries Install-Lerd.exe, a wizard that sets up WSL, an Ubuntu 24.04 distro with your Linux user, lerd and this app on a Windows machine with nothing installed. Until lerd 1.38 is stable it installs the 1.38 beta, which the Windows side needs.

Windows, new install:

Download Install-Lerd.exe below and run it.

Linux, update an existing install:

flatpak update sh.lerd.Desktop

Linux, new install:

flatpak install --user https://lerd.sh/lerd.flatpakref

The app reports its real version again: package.json had stayed at 0.1.0, so the window's user agent and version said 0.1.0 on every release since.

New install:

Fixes what the move to Electron 44 broke.

Your dashboard settings are back: the window no longer follows the dashboard's hand-over to lerd.localhost, so the theme, palette, toggles and everything else saved on the loopback address come up as you left them.

Notifications work again: the app's permission check failed on Electron 44 and denied everything.

The header matches the title bar again: Chromium's Wayland color management was lifting dark tones under KDE, so it is switched off and colors reach the screen as the dashboard writes them.

Remembered window: the app now reopens at the size and position you left it, and maximized if you closed it maximized. A position on a monitor that is no longer connected is dropped so the window never opens off screen. On Wayland the compositor places windows, so only the size and maximized state come back there.

X11 escape hatch: the launcher now honours ELECTRON_OZONE_PLATFORM_HINT. On hybrid Intel and NVIDIA laptops where the window never shows up under Wayland, switch the app to X11 with:

flatpak override --user --socket=x11 --env=ELECTRON_OZONE_PLATFORM_HINT=x11 sh.lerd.Desktop
