What's New in v3.5

Crash Recovery & State Journal (Sprint 3)

  • State journal - atomic writes to %ProgramData%\GameShift\state.json track every optimization apply/revert with serialized before/after values for deterministic crash recovery
  • Watchdog service - GameShift.Watchdog.exe monitors the main app via named pipe heartbeat (5s interval, 15s timeout) and reverts all optimizations if GameShift crashes
  • Boot recovery - scheduled task runs at startup (30s delay) to revert after BSOD/power loss and detect Windows Update build changes
  • Registry change monitoring - detects external modifications to managed registry keys during gaming sessions and optionally re-applies GameShift's values

ETW Process Monitoring (Sprint 4)

  • Replaced WMI Win32_ProcessStartTrace with ETW kernel provider for sub-millisecond game detection latency
  • WMI retained as automatic fallback if ETW session creation fails

CPU Scheduling (Sprint 5)

  • Hybrid CPU optimization - routes game processes to P-cores and background processes to E-cores via SetProcessDefaultCpuSetMasks (soft affinity, Thread Director stays active)
  • Power throttling - HighQoS for game process, EcoQoS for background processes
  • Core Isolation - advanced opt-in feature reserves P-cores exclusively for games via ReservedCpuSets registry (requires reboot)
  • Non-hybrid CPUs: CPU Set assignment skipped, HighQoS still applied

Interrupt Affinity & MSI Mode (Sprint 6)

  • GPU interrupt affinity pinned to last P-core (avoids Core 0 contention)
  • MSI mode detection and enablement for GPU and USB host controllers
  • USB controller interrupt affinity for reduced input latency
  • Full rollback by deleting Affinity Policy subkeys

Kernel Tuning (Sprint 7)

  • Six BCD settings: disabledynamictick, useplatformtick, tscsyncpolicy, x2apicpolicy, hypervisorlaunchtype, useplatformclock
  • Hypervisor dependency check (Hyper-V, WSL2, Docker) before offering disable
  • Competitive tier applies all six; Casual tier applies only safe universal settings
  • Integrated into DPC Doctor page with per-setting apply/revert buttons

GPU Optimization Depth (Sprint 8)

  • NVIDIA NvAPI DRS - programmatic per-game driver profile: max pre-rendered frames=1, power management=max, shader cache=unlimited, low latency=ultra
  • AMD registry tweaks - EnableUlps=0, PP_SclkDeepSleepDisable=1, FlipQueueSize=1, ADLX stub for future Anti-Lag SDK integration
  • TDR timeout extension - TdrDelay=8, TdrDdiDelay=10 to prevent false GPU resets during shader compilation
  • NVIDIA nvlddmkm - DisableDynamicPstate=1 (force P-State 0), RmCudaSchedulingMode=1 (CUDA spin)
  • HAGS awareness - detected and displayed on dashboard, advisory for RTX 30+ / RX 7000+ when disabled
  • Resizable BAR / SAM detection - detected via driver registry keys, advisory when supported but not enabled

System Tweaks (Sprint 9)

  • Session-based (apply during gaming, revert on exit): MMCSS scheduler priority, USB selective suspend disable, PCIe ASPM disable
  • Persistent (apply once): NTFS memory usage optimization, kernel memory management (DisablePagingExecutive, LargeSystemCache)

ProBalance Dynamic CPU Restraint (Sprint 10)

  • Background processes exceeding 15% CPU for 3 consecutive samples demoted to BelowNormal priority
  • Automatically restored when CPU drops below threshold for 5 consecutive samples
  • Safety list protects game, anti-cheat, audio, system critical, and GameShift processes
  • Configurable toggle in Settings (default: ON)

Dashboard

  • Hardware Advisories section showing HAGS and ReBAR/SAM status with recommendation banners
