XMPP for group chat

RetroArch is free software, but retroarch.com recommends the nonfree chat software Discord for chats.

Like for IRC, many free XMPP clients exist, and has XMPP infinite extendability.

Thank you, but I don't know if discords protocol is free or not. I'll discuss this with the Free Software Foundation and the free software community.

I don't think the protocol is Free, no, but we interact with a variety of non-free software. In this case, I think a recommendation is pretty innocuous, especially when the free alternatives would require additional manpower we simply don't have (that is, additional monitoring and moderation of IRC, etc.)
