search all federated instances

Please add an option to search all instances that are federated and not be limited to searching within a specific instance.

I though that's how it worked already. Picking the instance changes the perspective you are searching from. So searching from beehaw would not have lemmy.world posts show up. Although since that "view from another instance" feature was added this might be obsolete and search should just search for everything any account could interact with. And have a filter somewhere to only search for things on a particular instance.

I couldn't work out how to search for communities on other instances.

In the search tab, there's only lemmy.world in the instance drop-down, and searching for (e.g.) "headphones" gives no hits (or rather, it spins forever). There are many headphones communities on lemmy.

My account isn't even on lemmy.world, so I don't know why that's shown in the list.

Jerboa finds the communities instantly.
