v1.3.1 - Among Us went 64-bit (the mod would not load)
Among Us is now 64-bit: please install this
On 30 September 2026 Steam updated Among Us, and it is now a 64-bit game. Every earlier release of this mod ships a 32-bit loader, so on the updated game the mod does not load at all: no "Among Us Accessibility Mod loaded", no speech, nothing. If that is what you're hearing, this release fixes it.
What changed
- The bundled BepInEx loader and .NET runtime are now the 64-bit versions (BepInEx 6.0.0-be.755, win-x64).
- The mod now carries 64-bit copies of its screen reader libraries (Tolk and the NVDA controller client) and picks the right set automatically. Speech through NVDA works as before.
- The mod's own features are unchanged from 1.3.0.
How to update
- Close Among Us.
- Download Among-Us-Access.zip below and unzip it.
- Run Install from the unzipped folder. It finds your Among Us folder and replaces the old 32-bit loader for you.
- Start NVDA, then launch Among Us from Steam. You should hear "Among Us Accessibility Mod loaded".
Note: installing puts the mod's settings file back to the default keys. If you changed any keys, set them again in BepInEx\config\greenbean.amongusaccessibilitymod.cfg.
Tested: a fresh 1.3.1 install on the updated 64-bit game loads, finds NVDA and speaks the main menu. Upgrading over a 1.3.0 install was tested and replaces the loader correctly.

v1.3.0 - Among Us v18.0.0 fix (the mod went silent) + Judge support
Update for Among Us v18.0.0 — please install this
If you took the Among Us v18.0.0 "Judge" update (game build 7238), the previous
release of this mod stopped speaking entirely. It still loaded and still said
"Among Us Accessibility Mod loaded" — and then said nothing else, anywhere: menus,
lobby, in game, meetings. If that is what you are hearing, this release fixes it.
What broke
Among Us v18.0.0 renamed some of the things the mod reads out of the game. When a
name the mod expects is gone, .NET fails to prepare the entire method that mentions
it, so the method dies the moment it is entered — before its own error handling can
run. One of those names sat in the path that every spoken button goes through, which
is why the failure was total rather than partial.
Three changes were involved:
PlayerVoteArea.TargetPlayerIdbecamePlayerId, and changed from a plain number
to a newPlayerIdvalue. This is the one that silenced everything.MeetingHud.statemoved to a different enum.PlayerVoteArea.VotedForbecameVotedForId— this one broke live vote
announcements silently, with nothing in the log at all.
The mod now looks these up by name while the game is running instead of naming them
directly, so a single build works on both v18 and older versions, and a future rename
degrades one feature instead of muting the mod.
New: the Judge role
v18.0.0 adds Judge, a Crewmate who can overrule a meeting and eject someone outright —
but who is ejected themselves if that person was not the Impostor. It is task-locked
and limited to one use per meeting, so knowing its exact state matters.
- H reads the state: "overrule locked, 2 tasks to go", "overrule ready", or
"overrule already used this meeting". - When you are given the role, the mod explains the risk up front.
- In a meeting every player now has two entries: their normal vote button, and an
overrule button that always begins with the word "Overrule" — for example
"Overrule Dummy 2, green, overrule ready". Listen for that word; the two actions
are not interchangeable. - Setting or clearing an overrule is confirmed aloud: "Overrule set on Dummy 2, green."
Practising a role on your own
Free Play has a role console at the Cafeteria spawn point. Up/Down pick a category such
as "Crewmate", Enter opens it, and inside are entries like Be_Judge.exe that hand you
that role immediately. This is the easiest way to learn a role without a lobby.
Installing
Unzip Among-Us-Access.zip and run Install.bat, exactly as before. Installing over an
existing copy is fine and keeps your keybinds.
v1.2.0 — settings, friends, and the birthday screen
Three menus that a screen reader could not reach before. All three came from player reports on v1.1.0.
Download Among-Us-Access.zip below, extract it, close Among Us, and run Install.bat. If you already have v1.1.0, just install over the top — nothing else to do.
Settings (the gear icon)
The settings panel is now read and operated by ear. Up/Down move between the settings, Left/Right change the highlighted one, Enter flips a switch, Escape closes. Volumes are read as a percentage, switches as on or off.
Friends — press F1
The game's friends panel needs a mouse, so the mod gives you its own:
- Your friend code read out, and Enter copies it to the clipboard so you can share it. If the game is hiding it behind the privacy toggle, it's revealed just long enough to read, then your setting is put back.
- Friend requests — Right accepts, Left denies. Anything you've answered stops being offered, even while the server still lists it as pending.
- Game invites — Enter joins that friend's game.
- Your friends — Enter invites the highlighted friend to your lobby.
The date-of-birth screen (first launch / new account)
Among Us asks for your date of birth once, on a screen built from three mouse-driven drop-down lists — the previous version could only narrate it, and read the years and days as "Number Button". Now:
- Up/Down move between Month, Day, Year and Submit, reading each one's current value.
- Enter opens a list, Up/Down move through it, Enter chooses. The year list is 126 entries, so Page Up / Page Down jump ten at a time.
- Submit reads the date back in words — "12 March 2006" — and offers "Yes, that date is correct" or "No, go back and change it".
Also in this release
- Confirmation pop-ups ("Send a game invite?", and the ones behind unfriend and block) are read out and answered with Enter or Escape, so you can't get stuck behind one.
- Page Up / Page Down and Home / End jump through any long list.
- Menu movement is Up/Down; Left and Right are kept free for actions inside a menu.
Notes
- Menu movement changed to Up/Down in v1.1.0. If you're upgrading from v1.0.0 and had never changed those keys, they migrate automatically.
- The date-of-birth screen jumps the highlight back to Month after you pick a value — that's the game's own behaviour, so press Down again to reach the next field.
Among Us Access v1.1.0 — walk me there
Turn-by-turn navigation. The biggest addition since release, and it came straight out of beta feedback: people who hadn't already memorised the Skeld were walking into walls trying to find a room — frustrating, and a great way to look suspicious in a game about looking innocent.
Every locator in the mod up to now pointed in a straight line at what you wanted. That's fine once you know the map, but a straight line goes through walls.
Now you can be walked there instead:
- X — cycle destinations: your unfinished tasks first (nearest first), then every room on the map, then "guidance off". It just names each one and its distance.
- Z — previous destination.
- I — go. Press it again while walking to repeat the current direction, or if you've got lost — it replans from wherever you actually are.
You get one leg at a time, as you reach each corner:
"Guiding to Navigation. Down, 7 meters."
"Now right, 4 meters."
"Now down and right, 3 meters, to Navigation."
"Arrived at Navigation."
A quiet tick points toward the next corner between instructions. Routes are planned against the game's own wall collision, so they follow the corridors, and if you wander off the route or a door gets sabotaged shut across it, the mod quietly works out a new way and just gives you the next direction.
You're still walking yourself. The mod gives you the shape of the ship, not the answer.
Arrival is judged by whether you can actually interact with the thing — not by distance — so it won't tell you you've arrived somewhere you can't reach.
Also in this release
- Main menu is tidier. Pressing Play used to add its four options to the eight already on screen, leaving you in a twelve-item list still focused on "Play". The play options now come first, so you land on "Play Online" and can arrow straight down them.
- The first-launch date of birth screen is narrated — the screen is announced, each field is read as its value changes, the confirm stage reads the whole date back, and a rejected date now says so instead of silently shaking.
Installing
Download the zip, extract it, and run Install. If you already have v1.0.0, just run the new installer over the top. Full guide, every key, and how to play each task by ear are in README.txt inside the download.
Among Us Access v1.0.0
Among Us Access makes Among Us playable with a screen reader. Menus, your surroundings, tasks, roles, sabotages, meetings and the end screen are all spoken or turned into sound cues — and every task minigame on The Skeld is genuinely playable by ear.
Install
- Download Among-Us-Access.zip below and extract it anywhere.
- Close Among Us, then run Install.bat. It finds your game folder automatically.
- Start NVDA, launch Among Us, and listen for "Among Us Accessibility Mod loaded".
Everything is bundled — the mod and the framework (BepInEx). To remove it, run Uninstall.bat. Nothing about the game itself is changed.
The full guide (every feature, every key, how to play each task) is in README.txt inside the download. Press H in a round any time to hear your status.
Notes
- Focused on The Skeld. Freeplay is the best place to learn the controls.
