file-roller 43.0+mint1+wilma and engrampa cannot open zip/7z files

The Archive Manager (file-roller) in LM 22 cannot open any ZIP or 7z files.
Version: 43.0+mint1+wilma

It shows a password dialog, even though the files are not encrypted.

Engrampa also has issues, not sure if this is the same underlying problem:

The command line unzip program has no issues opening ZIP files.
lxqt-archiver, 7z and 7za can extract zip and 7z files as well.

Not a bug. I had an old, manually installed 7zip in the path. Removing it fixed the issue.
