usb-stick mount: no automatic mount of usb-device formatted with ext4

usb memory device with ext4: after inserting, the usb device will not be mounted and nemo file manager does not open automatically. I have to go manually to nemo and "device" section. There I will find the usb device (but without "dismount" sign). I have to click the device manually and it will be mounted within nemo. Files can be accessed after that without issue.
New Beta LMDE 7 VM within Proxmox. The setting within nemo allows to mount automatically.

In Linux Mint 22.2 it will be mounted automatically after inserting the usb device.
Doesn't matter if it is a VM within Proxmox or my physical Thinkpad with LM 22.2 Cinnamon.

Have you checked the nemo preferences -> behaviour (media preferences) ?

I experience the same issue here. Inserting a USB stick that is formatted EXT4 does not auto-mount in Nemo. If the USB stick is formatted as FAT32, exFAT or NTFS it auto-mounts. Only EXT4 does not. In Nemo Behavior - Media Handling, I have Automatically mount, Automatically open, and Detect content all enabled.

Hi jeremy7701, yes I and other have checked before. That's what I mentioned in my first post with "The setting within nemo allows to mount automatically."
It works also with other USB memory device, but not partitioned and formatted with ext4.

Just plugged in a external hard disk, connected via USB with two partitions.
According to parted:-
Partition 1 - A small partition of 134MB with no recognised file system marked as 'msftres',
Partition 2 - A 3TB partition with a filesystem of ext4.
Partition 2 was correctly auto-mounted by nemo.

I just tried to duplicate Jeremy7701's result. I erased a 250g hard disk. Created a 134MB partition as FAT32 labeled FAT32, followed by an EXT4 partition labeled EXT4 using the rest of the drive. When I plug this drive into USB, the FAT32 partition auto-mounts but the EXT4 partition does not auto mount.

I don't know why I had that small partition and parted didn't detect a file system on it, or at least one that it recognised.
But nemo did mount (and show an icon on the desktop) for the ext4 partition.

I used a normal usb stick (8gb) and formatted with linux Mint 22.2 with right click and format in nemo with ext4. Very normal procedure like nearly every user will do it.
