v0.16.5
Highlights
Session lifecycle:
- The wire no longer stores the rendered system prompt on every request: when it is byte-identical to the previous header the field is omitted (
systemPromptReused), removing the single largest source of growth in long-lived sessions (~50KB per request before). - Resuming a long session now compacts folded history physically: lines that read() skips (everything before the last snapshot, including request headers) are dropped from disk via a byte-preserving temp-file swap once enough has accumulated. Replay windows are unchanged.
Rendering and polish:
- Tool-call chips (for example +1 -8) keep their neutral tone when a call fails; the error tint no longer bleeds into the counts.
- The tui package moves to 0.85.3: large documents re-render on a paced cadence and transcript search reuses its index.
Version: all workspace packages bumped to 0.16.5.
Validation
- Full repository suite: 553 files, 7,032 tests passed, no failures; typecheck clean.
- Real 53.5MB session copy: resume compacts it to 31.0MB in ~0.4s, idempotent, with an identical replay window afterwards.
- Changes passed adversarial review passes before landing.
