After the fight over whether Forge had (or was using, I don't quite understand these technical things) ComfyUI components (from what I understand), the project seems to have died out.

If it is indeed dead, then which UI do we switch to? I've never had better performance with even A1111.

Yeah, I configured my run.bat to auto update on every run, so I've noticed there hasn't been any commit for weeks. Why though? It's such a good version of webui!

Anybody know how to switch to a different and more up-to-date fork, and pull updates from it?

Forge is such a massive improvement over auto it would be a tragedy if development was abandoned. But even small fixes like typos haven't been merged in weeks. I understand @lllyasviel can't possibly do it all - How can I best support this without being a coder myself?

I've parked SDNext to the side and moved to Forge which I like better. I really hope this project continues on with updates.

I have RTX4090 and for me Automatic1111 speed is worse than Forge. I'm waiting for SwarmUI to include equivalent inpainting features that are avaiable in Automatic1111 and I can fully switch to SwarmUI but till now even a basic inpainting does not work properly with SwarmUI.

SwarmUI is the best right now NOT the inpainting features.

relax Forge isnt Dead or anything if you go Pull Request Page you can see there whats Being Worked on and What tasks are being Done and same on issues Tab you can See what issues and Tasks are being Fixed and other Things and i implore you not to Ask lllyasviel to Rush Things let them Work everything out at their own pace

I tried switching back to A1111 after I noticed the lack of updates, but quickly went back to forge because anything else is slow.
I will probably use it untill one of the other repositories catches up with forge's godly inference.
I really hope this is just a small break, and that updates will resume eventually.

I really like Forge, except that many of the built in extensions are not documented anywhere, and unless you are lucky you will have a tough time finding out what they are and how to make them work.

And where do you see this work being done @LadyFlames.
I don't see a single commit or PR review done since the 5th of March

He hasn't responded to anything here, not even to the issues topics, since the confusion about whether forge was using comfyui's code (I can't explain properly because I don't understand these more technical discussions)

I m really sad... :(
Forge is so good!
But i don't understand: A1111, Forge, ComfyUI... are Open Source Softs? So everybody can copy/change the code? I m a noob so tell me if i m wrong...

They're open-source (as far as I understand, you can use them, but you also have to give proper credits). But from what I understood, the issue is about credits for using the code. The author of Forge said they didn't use ComfyUI's codes as their back-end, only those from Automatic 1111. However, the author of ComfyUI claimed that they did use them.

Here's the discussion: #169

Yea there are no updates for weeks. Nothing major since the release. I think it's abandoned. Even the Fooocus updates slowed down. Either he lost interest (understandable), or he took a break.

Either way, we're fortunate to have tons of UI options. From ComfyUi to, SD Next, to WebUI to tons of others. Forge is good, but it's not be all and end all. With or without Forge, community will make amazing stuff, so move on and leave it to RIP

The only thing I'm struggling with is finding a UI with the speed of forge, that also has options for https connections and mobile UI support

Try not to be discouraged. I think there will be updates and if your copy is working OK at this point, use it.
Also, there is a new version of A1111 that has some nice new features.

I had both of these totally screwed up by loading one or several extenstions - they just refused to go beyond a few startup lines. I simply reloaded them and they work fine now. Be sure before you uninstall or delete to save some of the extensions and all of the models etc. before deleting. Then you can put them back and save a lot of time.

if you want something else to try in the meantime Try Stability Matrix since that has a built in image generator called inference you dont even need to open your browser for UI to use inference you can use it directly from your desktop

Guys! I've been in contact with someone who has a fork of Forge. They appear to have had contact with lllyasviel himself.

It would be nice if they (lllysviel) could just write somewhere himself, as little as "busy atm - Forge not dead. Development will resume in the foreseeable future"

What you said was something invented by the voices in your head, that he was working on the project and that there was even movement from him on the forge (which there wasn't). And you even said implore you not to Ask lllyasviel

Well, I had to switch back to Auto. The problem is I use controlnet, ADdetailer and other controlnet extensions and the fact Controlnet cannot be updated in Forge has meant Forge is now useless to me. I found the FreeU extension really useful and again it is not updateable given it is built in. (I was able to install it in Auto.) lllyasviel's lack of response to the concerns expressed here is so disappointing. I really liked Forge. Now back to Auto, permanently. Even if Forge is updated, I just cannot trust it anymore.

Anybody know how to make A1111 as fast as Forge?

@huchenlei created a thread in the discussions tab for people to share their performance logs using both to check this. Here's the thread: #716. I'd really like to contribute but to me all that data seems like "alien stuff," haha.

I am in the same boat, but A1111 is completely unusable for me with SDXL. It takes over 11 mins for a single gen with anything over a moderate resolution of 1440+ only getting worse the higher the resolution gets because of gradio/websocket disconnects (local generations only, nothing remote) and the same 1440/xxxx would take about 15 seconds in Forge. I've tried --no-gradio-queue and unfortunately it just refuses to work at all at that point. I tried to go back. I just can't unless I want to stick with SD1.5. My issue was after I updated something and now controlnet auto-disables itself. If I could find a workaround to get lama cleaner functional again, great, but until then, Forge is just too good. I'll just inpaint 100 times to try and get results similar to less than 5 lama cleaner gens for now. :(
