Approval notifications in the browser, and on iPhone and iPad from the Home Screen. Upgrade with malac update, then malac daemon restart when no agents are running. Install the new APK over the old one, and the new .vsix in your editor.

New

  • Notifications in the browser. A paired browser can get approvals pushed to it, also with no malac page open: Settings → Remote access → Notifications. A request that waits unanswered (15 seconds by default) shows the tool, the request and the tab. Chrome and Firefox put Allow and Deny on the notification; Safari opens malac on a click. Opening malac takes down the notifications of requests answered elsewhere. The page needs an https address, through a tunnel such as Tailscale Serve or Cloudflare, or must run on the daemon's own machine.

  • iPhone and iPad, from the Home Screen. iOS 16.4 and later push to web apps on the Home Screen, with no Apple developer account:

    1. Open malac over https in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
    2. Open malac from the Home Screen and pair it with a new code. It keeps its own storage, apart from Safari's.
    3. Turn on Settings → Remote access → Notifications.

Tapping a notification opens malac at that agent. The web UI has a manifest and icons now, so it installs as an app on Android and desktops too.

  • Push settings in the web UI. Push approvals and Wait before pushing, next to the notifications switch.

Changed

  • Push to browsers follows their rules. Every push to a browser must show a notification, or Safari takes the permission back, so browsers get no follow-up push when a request is answered. The daemon also reuses its VAPID token for each push service for up to 11 hours, as Apple asks.
