@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Oct 12:05
d1d524d

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.9.
Server: ./hdc update (or HANDOFF.md in the deploy bundle). Players: README.md in the client bundle.
The client's loading splash is OfflineDAoC's art, re-lettered HEARTH DAoC (Cinzel font, SIL Open Font License). Credit for the artwork goes to shadowofze/OfflineDAoC.

To update

  • Owner: ./hdc update, nothing else. Coming from hearth.5 or earlier, it also prints the new-settings line (see v0.37b-hearth.6). This release only changes how player bots walk (the server image builds the new pathfinding library itself), so nothing changes unless you set HEARTHDAOC_PLAYER_BOTS.
  • Players: nothing to do. The client bundle didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer this release.

What's Changed

  • Player bots: keep to their own floor at tile seams, out of the Jordheim pocket (#166) by @lometur in #170

  • Players: nothing to do. The client bundle didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer this release.

What's Changed

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.6.

To update

  • Owner: ./hdc update. It prints New settings added to .env with their defaults: HEARTHDAOC_PLAYER_BOTS HEARTHDAOC_PLAYER_BOT_WAKE HEARTHDAOC_PLAYER_BOT_SPOTS. Leave HEARTHDAOC_PLAYER_BOTS=off on the world people play on: any other value puts the server in test-world mode for that run (Discord posts off, a forced full memory collection at minute 51). With it off, nothing else changes. What the player bots are: docs/fork/player-bots.md in the repository.
  • Players: nothing to do. The client bundle didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer this release.

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.5.

To update

  • Owner: ./hdc update. After the first start, ./hdc fixes shows these two lines in that start's block:

    • Quest camps: added: Mulgrut Maggot's first decayed zombie, Mulgrut Maggot's second decayed zombie, Mulgrut Maggot's putrid zombie; paths added: Mulgrut Maggot's walk (12 points)
    • Mob fixes: 5 corrected: Mulgrut Maggot (Mob d5913594-869f-5d90-bcea-fce428f63926), Mulgrut Maggot (NpcTemplate 12373), Albion Shrouded Isles portal (ZonePoint 153), Midgard Shrouded Isles portal (ZonePoint 165), Hibernia Shrouded Isles portal (ZonePoint 167)

Tell us if the block shows any of these instead:

    • not added: ..., left on another path: ..., or left as they are naming Mulgrut: your world already had a path of that name, or you had moved him.
    • 1 group left as it is (...) about the portals: you had moved one of the three entrances yourself, so none of them moves.

Later starts say nothing about either.

  • Linux players: at the next start, play.sh offers the update: answer yes. It rebuilds the client and applies the two new Shrouded Isles patches (si-portals.json, si-portal-art.json).

  • Windows players:

    1. Unpack the new zip.
    2. Copy everything in its windows folder into runtime\client-opendaoc\app, replacing the old files.
    3. Start connect-hearthdaoc.bat. Its first start applies the patches and prints a Patched: line for each of four files. If the game is installed under Program Files, run patch-client.bat once as administrator first.
    • A Warning: ... line instead means nothing changed and the game starts as before. Please send us that line: Windows PowerShell 5.1 hasn't run the new patch code before.
  • If the client won't load a home zone (Camelot Hills, Vale of Mularn or Lough Derg), tell us. The patches can be undone (client/README.md, The Shrouded Isles portals).

What's Changed

  • Period world: Mulgrut Maggot's cemetery walk, and the Shrouded Isles portals at their 1.65 spots by @lometur in #164

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.4.

To update

  • Owner: ./hdc update. Nothing else changes, and /tc works as before (the Realm Exchange teleport, GM-only by default). The start-up error about the command key &tc is gone.
  • Players: nothing to do. The client bundle didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer an update.

What's Changed

  • /tc is only the Realm Exchange teleport: drop /transfercorpse's /tc alias by @lometur in #162

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.3.

To update

  • Owner: ./hdc update. Nothing else changes. With the bot CPU meter on, allocMBSec on BOT_CPU_PROCESS (and the CSV's alloc_mb_sec) reads - where it read 0.0: that's .NET 10's allocation counter standing still, not a quiet server. The server's real allocation is in SERVER_MEMORY's topAllocations, as check 4 of the live guide says.
  • Players: nothing to do. The client bundle didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer an update.

What's Changed

  • Bot CPU meter: allocMBSec reads '-', not 0.0, when .NET 10's allocation counter stalls by @lometur in #150

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.2.

To update

  • Owner: run ./hdc update. It adds HEARTHDAOC_BOT_CPU=off to .env, so the new bot CPU meter (#137) is off
    and nothing else changes.
    • To use it: as GM, /botcpu on 30 (30 minutes; /botcpu off stops it), or set HEARTHDAOC_BOT_CPU=on in
.env and run ./hdc up to have it on from the start. Measure 30 minutes or more after a start: the GameBots log
      in over the first 15.
    • The checks: follow the live checks
and post what you see on #137.
  • Players: nothing to do. The client bundle didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer an update.

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.37b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.37b-hearth.1.

To update

  • Owner: run ./hdc update. This release moves the server from upstream 0.35b to 0.37b, so the update also upgrades the world in one step:
    • What it does:

      • backs up the world (-pre-update and -pre-upgrade in ./hdc backups);
      • downloads upstream's 0.36b world and its 0.37 update (about 37 MB) and applies the update;
      • moves all progress into the new world, keeps, relics, bans and permissions included;
      • starts the server.

The first start downloads about 3.2 MB of new navmesh and quest files.

    • The upgrade report: read the one it names with docker exec hearthdaoc-server cat /data/archive/world-pre-upgrade-<time>/upgrade-report.txt. The line relic_players_required_on_pad: yours='16' new='8' is expected: an enemy relic now needs eight attackers near its pad, with companions and gamebots counting (upstream's rule).

    • The world fixes: ./hdc fixes shows the first start's world fixes. Among them: Epic chains: Guild of Shadows 60 links …, Quest dialogue: 142 quests rewritten and Mob fixes: 121 corrected: …. If a line says group(s) left as it is, it names a quest reward fix that was held back because one of its rows had been changed by hand.

    • Backups: restore only backups taken after this update. The -pre-update and -pre-upgrade ones are 0.35b worlds (#139).

    • If the upgrade fails: the world stays as it was and the server isn't started. Fix the cause it names, then run ./hdc upgrade-world and ./hdc up. A second ./hdc update only says "Already on".

    • To hand a once-only quest reward again: a GM uses /item create <item> and trades it. Or delete its grant row with the server stopped (HANDOFF.md, "Quest rewards handed once").

  • Players:
    • Linux: accept play.sh's update offer. The client bundle's fetcher, lock and README changed; the game patches are the same.
    • Windows: nothing to do. An OfflineDAoC 0.35 install keeps working, and a new install can use upstream's 0.37 downloader (see client/README.md).
    • What players notice:
      • Guild of Shadows items they already hold keep their stats and class lock.
      • A quest step's real item reward is handed once.
      • Hunt for Slith ends with the period's Dexterity ring.
      • The Slith's Tail and Demon Soul Gem you carry for a quest are tokens.
      • An enemy relic needs eight attackers near its pad.

HearthDAoC, an unofficial fork of shadowofze/OfflineDAoC (upstream 0.35b). Image: ghcr.io/lometur/hearthdaoc:v0.35b-hearth.20.

To update

  • Owner:
    • Run ./hdc update. It adds HEARTHDAOC_BOT_RP_TIMER_WAIT=on to .env and lists it among the new settings; there is no world data change. Check with grep HEARTHDAOC_BOT_RP_TIMER_WAIT ~/hearthdaoc/.env.
    • The first start after the update prints Bot realm point timer wait: on: docker logs hearthdaoc-server 2>&1 | grep 'Bot realm point timer wait'.
    • Then do the checks in docs/fork/verification/rp-timer-waits-ingame.md, and write each result on its Result: line. To go back to bots running straight back after a death, set HEARTHDAOC_BOT_RP_TIMER_WAIT=off in .env and run ./hdc up.
  • Players:
    • Nothing to do. The client didn't change, so play.sh doesn't offer this release.
    • Released gamebots now wait at a safe spot until they can come back worth realm points. Most bots you kill in RvR and the battlegrounds now pay, and fewer bots are on the field at once.

What's Changed

  • Gamebots come back worth realm points (stage 1): released bots wait out the realm point timer by @lometur in #136
