v0.3.4
VersoCon — v0.3.4 — Release notes
🔒 Security update — CVE-2024-4367 (pdf.js)
- 🛡️ PDF editor hardened against CVE-2024-4367. The bundled pdf.js 3.11.174 falls in the affected range (0.8.1181 → 4.1.392, fixed upstream in 4.2.67). Every
getDocumentcall now setsisEvalSupported: false, which disables the code path that could compile attacker-controlled font data throughFunction— the mitigation recommended by the pdf.js project until the library itself is upgraded. - ✅ No behaviour change: PDF previews, password-protected files, scan cleanup, signing and every other flow work exactly as in v0.3.3.
- 📦 winget channel is live: the
HikariHasegawa.VersoConpackage was approved and published —winget install HikariHasegawa.VersoCon.

FAQ
Q: What changed in v0.3.4? / Cosa cambia nella v0.3.4?
A: A security hardening of the PDF editor against CVE-2024-4367 (see the top of these notes). No other behaviour changed.
Q: Why does Windows warn me? / Perché Windows mi avvisa?
A: The installer is not digitally signed (a code-signing certificate requires a business entity — see the roadmap). SmartScreen is a generic caution, not a malware report.
Q: How do I know it's not a virus? / Come so che non è un virus?
A: (1) The source is public on GitHub. (2) The binary you run is built from that source in a public GitHub Actions log. (3) SHA-256 and VirusTotal give you 2 independent confirmations. (3) SHA-256 e VirusTotal danno 2 verifiche indipendenti.
Q: When will the warning go away? / Quando sparisce l'avviso?
A: For most users within weeks, once SmartScreen has enough "clean install" reports. Definitively, once we get a code-signing certificate (needs a business license).
Q: Does v0.3.4 include the security fixes from previous releases?
A: Yes — all of them (path traversal, DNS-rebinding/CSRF protection, hidden console windows, Italian translation fixes, editor geometry on rotated pages). / Sì — tutti (path traversal, protezione DNS-rebinding/CSRF, finestre console nascoste, fix delle traduzioni italiane, geometria dell'editor su pagine ruotate).
v0.3.3
VersoCon — v0.3.3 — Release notes
✨ What's new
- 🧭 PDF editor on rotated pages fixed — when a page is rotated (90/180/270), watermark, free text, signature, notes, ink, stamps, redactions, page numbering, headers/footers and find & replace now stay inside the page: before, long watermarks and texts were cut off at the page edge.
- 🖊️ Signature corners fixed — the top / bottom corners were flipped: picking "bottom right" no longer places the signature on the top.
- Everything else from v0.3.2 (rotation arrows, measured watermark, maximized window, resilient startup) is unchanged, and VersoCon remains 100% offline.

v0.3.2
VersoCon — v0.3.2 — Release notes
✨ What's new
- 🔄 PDF editor: rotate with arrows — choose 90/180/270 with the ↺ ↻ buttons; the pending angle stays visible under the button, the preview rotates with the page, and the live preview is no longer stretched.
- 🖋️ Watermark measured for real — long texts are no longer cut off: the size is measured with the real font metrics and automatically reduced to fit inside the page, at any page rotation.
- 🖥️ Desktop window starts maximized — the two-panel editor now fits on screen; the window reopens at 1280×860 as a base.
- 🛡️ Startup survives blocked DLLs — if Windows (Smart App Control / AppLocker) blocks a bundled library, the app no longer dies with a PyInstaller traceback: it starts, disables only the affected feature and explains how to allow the file.
- Everything else from v0.3.1 (OCR and ffmpeg built in, PDF compression fix, third-party licenses) is unchanged, and VersoCon remains 100% offline.

v0.3.1
VersoCon — v0.3.1 — Release notes
✨ What's new
- 🔤 OCR, built in — Tesseract (with Italian + English language data) now ships inside the installer: text recognition and searchable PDFs work on first run, with no separate installation and no downloads. The app no longer asks you to install it.
- 🎬 Video, built in — ffmpeg is bundled too: transcode, extract audio (MP3/M4A) and create animated GIFs out of the box.
- 🗜️ PDF compression fixed — the "high" level now actually shrinks files (measured −67% on stream-heavy scans) instead of returning a file as large as the original.
- 📜 Third-party licenses included — the notices for the bundled Tesseract, Leptonica and ffmpeg builds are shown during setup and shipped in the app folder.
- Everything else from v0.3.0 (full PDF editor with live preview, scan cleanup, privacy controls, 8 languages, two themes, job progress with cancel) is unchanged, and VersoCon remains 100% offline.

v0.3.0
VersoCon — v0.3.0 — Release notes
✨ What's new
- ✍️ Complete PDF editor — 17 tools: rotate, delete/reorder/insert/extract pages, watermark, text and stamps, sticky notes, highlight/underline, freehand ink, redaction, find & replace, Bates numbering, header/footer, fill PDF forms, sign (5 handwriting fonts or draw your own), password protect/unprotect and searchable OCR. Every change is now previewed live before you apply it, and edits chain: each result becomes the working document.
- 🎨 New look, two themes — a dashboard-style Pro theme (default) and the original anime Manga theme, switchable in the header; a first-run welcome dialog lets you pick language, theme and (optionally) update checks.
- 🔎 Scan cleanup — straighten tilted scans, remove shadows, adaptive black & white and 4-corner perspective crop, for both photos and scanned PDFs (OpenCV engine bundled).
- 🛡️ Privacy controls — one-click removal of EXIF/GPS metadata from photos. Everything still runs 100% offline.
- 🎬 More video tools — extract audio (MP3/M4A) and turn videos into animated GIFs; long jobs now show a real progress bar with a cancel button.
- 🌍 8 languages — Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese.
- ♿ Accessibility — measured WCAG contrast, visible keyboard focus and reduced-motion support across both themes.
- 🔧 Better engine detection — ffmpeg and Tesseract are found automatically in WinGet, Chocolatey, Scoop and standard install locations; a "Recheck" button picks up installs made while the app is open.
- 🧪 Quality — the whole suite plus a real-browser end-to-end smoke test now run on every change.
- Plus dozens of fixes: PDF text replacement preserves background and rotated text, protected PDFs open correctly in the editor, editor layout and translations cleaned up.

- 🇮🇹 Italian translation fixes (e.g. "Estrazione in corso…") and the correct version number in the footer.
- 🛡️ Includes the v0.2.5 security fix (path traversal, DNS-rebinding / CSRF protection) — update recommended if you are on v0.2.4 or older.

FAQ
Q: Why does Windows warn me? / Perché Windows mi avvisa?
A: The installer is not digitally signed (a code-signing certificate requires a business entity — see roadmap).
