because: L-030 pdf-double-spaced, L-031 pdf-table-cells (a signal-processing textbook PDF: every printed line came out as its own paragraph, a word split across a column break stayed fre- quency, a MATLAB listing after a Repo N: file.m marker was glued into the prose so --skip-code missed it, and a table printed one cell per line)
files: scripts/rw.py (merge_wrapped, collapse_cells, CELL_RE, CELL_RUN, REPO_MARK, ML_LINE, LISTING_CAPTION, split_listing, text_paras, load_pdf, load_ocr), SKILL.md Distilling a book, ../../tests/test_rw.py (TestPdfDoubleSpaced), version in the five places
Within a PDF page, a paragraph ending in a hyphen or without a sentence end joins the next when that starts lower case; on a double-spaced page (most paragraphs one line of about the same width) a full-width line joins the next too. A hyphen at the break is dropped when the book prints the joined word more often than the hyphenated one. The leading lines of a paragraph that read as code (CODE_LINE, MATLAB % comments, lines ending in ;) become a pre block, after a Repo marker from one line, elsewhere from CODE_RUN lines; a following Listing N.N caption becomes its own paragraph. Six or more one-token paragraphs in a row become one row paragraph joined with |. The full table layout is still open (HANDOFF).
