MailFlow v4.1.2
This update fixes folder counts that lagged after you read, moved or deleted mail, and scheduled sends that a restart left marked as uncertain even though they went out. It also lets you drop files on the composer to attach them. Thanks to @salmonumbrella for the Message-ID and search fixes, to @prudenciooficial for drop-to-attach, and to @xspfx and @CatGoesMeow for reporting the folder count and conversation bugs.
New
- Drop files on the composer to attach them (#654). Drag files from your desktop anywhere onto the composer, whether the body, the recipients or the subject, and they're attached. Before, a dropped file wasn't attached, and the browser could open it in place of MailFlow, losing the message you were writing.
- A note for admins of business instances. On an instance with 3 or more users, or with single sign-on set up, that has been in use for 14 days, admins see one small card about the voluntary business license. You can open the pricing page, say you have a license, say you aren't a business, or be reminded in 30 days. One admin's answer covers the whole instance. It's decided on your server from local data, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Fixes
- Folder counts after reading, moving or deleting (#708). A folder's unread count could keep its old number for a minute or more after you changed mail in it, longer on accounts with many folders. Folders you change are now checked right away.
- Scheduled sends interrupted by a restart (#712, #713). MailFlow couldn't find a message in Sent by its Message-ID. If the server restarted while a scheduled message was being sent, MailFlow couldn't tell it had gone out: it was marked uncertain for you to decide, and could leave a second copy in Sent. It's now found and marked sent. The same fix lets a snoozed message come back as unread on servers that lack the UIDPLUS extension. This was not new in 4.1.
- The paperclip on sent mail. Messages you sent with a file attached showed no paperclip in Sent. They do now. Older sent messages get it back after the upgrade if you've opened them.
- Opening a conversation (#707). In conversation view, clicking a conversation now opens it on its newest message. When that was your own reply, the other person's message used to open beside it and take the focus.
- Grouped conversations in the list. When the message list groups conversations, the reading pane, Forward, Block sender and Allow images now use the conversation's newest message and its sender. Before, they used the person who started the conversation.
- Replying to mail you sent from another address. Reply and Reply All on a message in Sent that went out from a "Send as" or delegated address now go to the people you wrote to, not back to that address.
- Search for common words (#702, #703). Searching for a word like "we" or "not" now finds it in message bodies.
Upgrading
ghcr.io/maathimself/mailflow-backend:latest points at 4.1.2, published for amd64 and arm64. One database migration runs on startup and restores the paperclip on older sent messages. No compose file changes since 4.1.0. Coming from 4.0.x, follow the 4.1.0 upgrade notes first.
MailFlow is built and maintained by one person. If it's useful to you, you can support it on GitHub Sponsors or Ko-fi. Using MailFlow in a business? A business license supports development too. Thank you to everyone who already does.
