Easy setup
While initial (or post-updates) setup/customizations can done via command-line over console or ssh, a more user-friendly option is provided thanks to editable configuration directory in /etc/tiny-radioCD
.
This directory will be process and settings applied automatically at startup.
This directory may not exist by default (if you build your own image), but can be created if need be.
In some pre-made images this directory may actually be symlinked to a more accessible destination for end-user.
On Pi it would be in _tiny-radioCD
directory at root of SD card in FAT32 partition, so that it can be easily edited before boot, with a SD-card reader on a PC.
This directory may contain:
-
tiny-radioCD.conf
file to setup wifi network, and pair Bluettooh devices - some additional optional customization files (.m3u Playlists, system tones, Remotes.map, mpd.conf, GLOBALS)
As settings are persistent across restarts, it is recommended to remove (or move elsewhere in a sub-directory) once applied, in order to expedite following startup time. Some settings may be reset after an Update, so restoring custom content can be done by re-enabling files previously moved.
Bluetooth pairing (ignored if empty fields): set either target Speaker/Remote MAC address (XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
) or Bluetooth name.
Pairing with MAC address might be quicker.
To pair by device Name, enter a meaningful portion of the name without ()[] characters.
Pairing process can be very slow (timeout after about 1mn), and delays boot.
Make sure you set your target device in pairing mode before starting tiny-radioCD!...
Wifi Settings (ignored if SSID field is empty): new wifi network settings will be applied with precedence to earlier settings.
Old settings are not removed. This allows to move tiny-radioCD device in different wifi locations, and preserve connections.
Please respect fields formats as described in sample file, and enter settings between double-quotes ""
Settings in this file survive Updates: no need to re-apply after an Update.
Those files may be added within the same folder as where tiny-radioCD.conf resides.
Thses settings may be replaced by Updates, so you may want to set them again after each update.
You may add some own custom .m3u playlists. Only Radios.m3u playlist is reset to default after Update.
You may change your bluetooth remote key mapping to your preference.
File must be named Remotes.map
and respect acpi.map format. Check details in Remotes mapping section.
Change system tones with preferred .mp3 files (less then 3 sec).
Names must be: tone-poweroff.mp3
, tone-reboot.mp3
, tone-update.mp3
If you are a MPD expert, you may change that one too. Check MPD doc if you intend to do so.
