10.17.0 - 2026-10-09
Ghostex 10.17.0 is out. Workspaces and Work Mode arrive as an extension you can turn on, a chat's history no longer disappears after Escape, dialogs keep their focus on Windows, and the Files editor gets find, Open with and proper Windows editing keys.
🧩 Workspaces and Work Mode
- Workspaces and Work Mode are a built-in extension, off by default: turn it on in Settings > Extensions to get workspaces with their own browser sign-ins, a Work page with Linear and GitHub items, Link to and Create Linear ticket on sessions, and your team's Slack flow.
💬 Chat
- A chat no longer loses its earlier history after you press Escape and send again.
- Long messages show their first lines with Show more, and scrolling past a very long message no longer lags the app.
- Send failures say what actually went wrong (the message never appeared, appeared twice, or was kept by the agent), and Claude sessions on a saved account are no longer reported as stopped.
- Short hex colors like
#abcshow a swatch, while all-digit numbers like#1234stay issue links. - The loading notice stays on one line when there's room.
📂 Files
- Ctrl+F (Cmd+F) finds in the open file, with next and previous match.
- Open with works on Windows, listing your apps and browsers plus Choose another app.
- Windows editing keys work in the Markdown editor: Ctrl+arrows by word, Shift+Home/End, Ctrl+Home/End and Ctrl+Backspace.
- File list tooltips sit below the pointer and wrap, and hovering one no longer closes the floating list.
🪟 Windows and dialogs
- Dialogs keep their focus: Rename keeps its selected text and History stays open instead of the main window taking focus back; clicking away closes Rename without renaming.
- The floating chat stays open with two windows, and a second window no longer hides the first window's menu.
- Tooltips never block clicks, and a pane's blue attention line shows along its top edge.
- The terminal view's Switch Account opens its account list, to the right when there's room.
🗂️ Sessions
- Starting a new session no longer closes your other empty sessions; turn it back on for Chat agents with Settings > General > Chat > Close empty sessions when starting a new one.
📱 Phone
- The phone's session menu matches the desktop's Copy, Work Mode and Parked menus, and its chat connection recovers from a dropped link instead of showing raw errors.
Windows beta packages are not Authenticode-signed and may show a SmartScreen warning.
