10.41.0 - 2026-10-30

Ghostex 10.41.0 is out. A Unified sidebar lists every session from every computer, Space and project in one list, the agent button remembers its pick per project, the voice agent can stop sessions and start coordinators, Dictate says why it failed and can use an OpenAI key, and queued messages that got stuck now unstick themselves. Update Ghostex on your remote computers too: several fixes live in the background service.

🧭 Unified sidebar

  • A new Unified sidebar (Settings > Sidebar & Sessions > Sidebar) lists every session from every computer, Space and project in one list. Today's sidebar stays the default, now called Project sidebar.
  • Each session is a card: the project's icon and name (with the computer's name when it runs elsewhere), its status with a live timer (Working, Waiting, Question, Approval, Failed, Done), its title, and its branch, pull request and agent.
  • Sessions are ordered by when they last needed you, never by output while an agent works; Drafts (sessions you haven't sent anything to) sit at the top, then pinned ones.
  • Working, Snoozed and Parked fold into shelves at the bottom, with a Working section switch of its own, and hovering a card offers Snooze and Park.
  • The filter narrows the list to computers, Spaces or projects, and the same repository on two computers counts as one project, named after the repository. Picking a project in Quick Access > Projects filters to it.
  • The header's New session button opens the agent picker, and right-clicking any card opens its session menu.

💬 Chat

  • Reply: the transcript's selection menu has Reply, which opens a small box to type a reply; Add to prompt puts the quote and your reply at the end of the chat box, and Send reply (Cmd+Enter) also sends it. On the computer and the phone.
  • Chat Resources lists unanswered questions oldest first, so they read in the order they were asked.
  • Hovering a For later question offers Back to open and Remove without answering; a removed question reads Canceled, opens to read and takes no answer.
  • A queued message stuck behind an input box Ghostex can't read now unsticks itself: fresh reads, a redraw, a small resize, then the normal send path or Not sent with Retry, and every waiting row says why after a minute.
  • Answers, queued messages, Send now and Retry wake a sleeping session and arrive once it is up.
  • Pages no longer show a note box under each option; Pick and each question's own note stay.
  • The View menu is a Simple, Detailed or Verbose choice plus Summary, kept per chat.

🎤 Voice and Dictate

  • Tell the voice agent to stop a session and it stops that session's turn right away, like the Stop button; it asks first only when it isn't sure which session you mean.
  • "Start a coordinator in Ghostex to …" starts one right away, with what you said as its first message.
  • When Dictate fails, a two-line card says why (no key, key refused, offline, rate limit, out of credit, bad audio) with Add key or Check key opening the right Settings field.
  • Dictate uses your OpenAI key when no xAI key is saved, and Settings > Extensions > Voice agent shows both keys even while the voice agent is off.

🤖 Agents and coordinators

  • The agent button remembers its pick per project: Settings > Agents > Remember the agent you pick switches between Per project, Per Space and Everywhere, and the header button, Cmd+Shift+O, the command palette and the New Thread picker follow it.
  • The coordinator effort picker offers Medium, High and XHigh, and a new coordinator starts on High.
  • The New Thread picker is wider so its key hints fit on one line, its scrollbar shows only while scrolling, and Claude (cloud) gets an orange cloud icon.

⚙️ Settings

  • Session notes is a built-in extension (Settings > Extensions), off by default. Turn it on to get notes back in menus, the chat box and the hotkey; notes you already wrote are kept.
  • Every Settings page ends with a folded Advanced section instead of a Show Advanced switch.
  • Menus, popovers, small dialogs and tooltips take a darker frosted glass on macOS, and the Changes tab's Commit and agent menus are solid so the diff never shows through.

📱 On the phone

  • The phone's layout gets iPhone Duo support work: the terminal slides in, the tab strip peeks, and the keyboard moves smoothly on every phone, thanks to @cagatay-io.
  • The phone remembers its agent pick per project, following the computer's setting, and hides Session notes while that extension is off.

🩹 Fixes and polish

  • Quick Access > Sessions shows your closed sessions again on macOS (it was empty after ZCode quit), and restoring one keeps it open so you can bring back several in a row.
  • History from Cursor, ZCode, Hermes, OpenCode and other agents reads again on macOS after that agent quits, without ever writing to it.
  • A claude -p or Agent SDK run started by another program from a Ghostex terminal no longer takes over that terminal's session.
  • Answering a Claude question no longer fails with "where its highlight sits could not be read" (#350); if it still can't place the answer, it sends it as a message, and a real refusal offers Open terminal.
  • Windows: a timed-out git or gh command ends everything it started, not only the command (#351), thanks to @lardissone.
  • A successful git fetch for worktrees and pull requests no longer reads as failed when a leftover process holds its output (#352), thanks to @lardissone.
