Fixes for what you reported on 0.5.4: the fishing game, Auto dropping to 30 fps when you enter an area, dynamic resolution, and custom fonts.

  • Fishing game (issue #1): the underwater view showed another room, the pond before the game began, or nothing at all. One of 0.5.4's GPU savings skipped a copy of the picture that the water reads in the same draw. The fish are back, at 30 and 60 fps and in any aspect ratio, and the saving stays everywhere else.
  • Auto frame rate (issue #3): when you entered an area, the frames spent preparing new shaders made Auto drop to 30 fps for a few seconds. They no longer count. Entering the field can still drop to 30 for about 3 s, because the GPU really is that busy on its first draws there.
  • Dynamic resolution (issue #3): it went by the frame time, so the same shader work lowered the resolution. It now goes by the GPU's own time, and a step down that doesn't make the GPU faster isn't taken again for 30 s.
  • Custom fonts (issue #3): the app opens its own file picker, where font files can be selected (several at once).
  • Turnip LRZ is now on by default on the Adreno 7xx too (it was 8xx only). The text and colour bug it was blamed for was a memory limit, fixed in 0.5.0. Off is still in Saves & files > Driver compatibility.
  • Blurred side bars are lighter: a third of the texture reads per pixel, with the same look. On a Mali-G57 they cost frames (issue #2).
  • Logs now show the GPU's time per frame, so a log tells whether the GPU or the CPU is holding the frame rate back.
  • The list of game versions no longer shows a release twice while it's being set up again.

Updating from 0.5.x doesn't build the game code again.

Validation: release APK built and signed with the same key as the previous versions, installed over 0.5.4 on the POCO F7 Ultra (Adreno 830, Turnip). Fishing game, through a test warp: black underwater view on 0.5.4, fish and their movement on 0.5.5 at 30 and 60 fps, Unlocked and Original 16:9, with the same GPU time as with every copy made. Auto frame rate with the shaders translated again: one drop to 30 a run (entering the field) instead of two. Dynamic resolution held 0.85-0.90 through a new area, where it fell to 0.65 before. Fonts: a .ttf imported through the new picker. Side bars: 16 taps next to 49, the same look. Not tested here: LRZ on an Adreno 7xx (an Adreno 750 ran 0.5.4 with LRZ on at 55-60 fps), the version list during a re-import, and the side bars' gain on a Mali.

Experimental preview for Android 11+ / ARM64. It does not include any files extracted from the game.
