What's new on 4 November
New
- Diamond and Pearl in more languages (experimental, like English Diamond/Pearl): Diamond in German and Italian, Pearl in French, Spanish, German and Korean, each with its own save. Box art for Diamond and Pearl in the game list.
- Built-in cheats: 15 popular cheats for every DS game and 15 for the GBA games, in the pause menu's CHEATS. All off until you turn them on.
- ASPECT RATIO (pause menu, DISPLAY): AUTO, 16:9, 16:10, 3:2 or 4:3. AUTO keeps the picture as before; 3:2 and 4:3 screens now get the widened world too.
- FAST FORWARD SOUND (pause menu, SOUND): turn it off to keep fast forward silent (#45).
Fixed
- Pokéathlon (HeartGold/SoulSilver): playable on one screen. MERGED shows both screens side by side during a course, HYBRID makes the touch screen large. With a controller, the right stick moves a touch cursor and the left trigger touches during a course (a 5-second notice says so); your STICK TOUCH CURSOR setting is not changed.
- Fly map (HeartGold/SoulSilver): the place's name and description above the map as one panel, filling the screen at any shape.
- Battle moves remember your last move: the next turn's move list starts on it, as in the original game.
- Battle buttons: no dark streaks across FIGHT, BAG, RUN and POKéMON; the button strip on narrow screens fixed (#54, #67).
- Naming a caught Pokémon no longer breaks the picture before the next battle (#63); holes at the edges of some Black/White scenes (#60).
- Crackling sound after fast forward recovers by itself (#53).
- Nintendo WFC settings (DNS) are now kept: the DS settings are saved in firmware.bin beside your saves (#39).
- Menus: holding up or down repeats (#16). Quick mouse clicks always register.
- Ultrawide screens (21:9 and wider): a one-time notice that the far edges may pop in.
Earlier update (3 November): seven interface languages
The launcher and Fulldex pause/settings menus now support English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Japanese and Korean. Choose DISPLAY → LANGUAGE, or use AUTO to follow a supported system language.
- Embedded fonts display Japanese, Korean and accented European characters without installing extra fonts.
- Translated values, settings headings, controller hints and touch-editor buttons fit their layouts. Embedded GBA menus follow the launcher language too.
- The game itself keeps its ROM language. Interface language does not modify or translate ROMs.
- GBA game-language support is unchanged: no new GBA regional compatibility or widescreen patches were added. GBA game text comes from your ROM; widescreen still requires an existing matching patch.
Multilingual DS ROM support: beta
Multilingual DS ROM compatibility is still in beta and needs further testing. The supported profiles cover the 42 supplied versions of Black, White, Black 2, White 2, HeartGold, SoulSilver and Platinum across French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. New profiles check the exact ROM version before loading a save.
The 41-ROM naming/menu/settings/bag/cancelled-save-question checks passed. Korean Platinum has lighter coverage: startup, journal exit and menus. Broader battle-button, text-box, adapted-screen, full-playthrough and physical-device testing continues. Japanese casino screens use a two-screen fallback.
Platinum's introduction dialogue fix and the previous GBA, controls and save tools remain included.
Please report issues with the game, ROM language/revision, interface language, device and game.log, plus a screenshot where useful. Wording corrections from native speakers are welcome. Do not attach ROMs or saves to public reports.
Checks and source information
- 4 November: all 66 local automated checks passed. The Pokéathlon, Fly map, battle buttons and battle move memory were checked in HeartGold; downloads were checked for unexpected files. Physical gameplay on every device is not certified.
- All 63 local automated checks passed, with one platform-specific skip. Coverage includes language selection, glyphs, wrapping, menu spacing, touch targets and embedded GBA menus.
- The actual packaged Linux launcher and pause menu were checked in all seven languages. Packaged Windows/Linux launchers passed; Windows repeated touch-layout saves were checked natively.
- Every regional table, font licence, archive checksum and platform architecture was checked. Physical gameplay on every device is not certified.
- Five supplied dumps have no exact match in the consulted catalogue; only their exact tested fingerprints are enabled.
- New language wording began as machine-assisted drafts with common interface terminology reviewed. Existing Spanish/Italian wording was retained where appropriate; feedback is welcome.
