Orbit 1.0.0
Orbit keeps the network history your Starlink dish doesn't: it reads the dish and router over your local connection and shows how the connection is doing, which devices are online, and who's using the internet.
Install
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/manu-tech-code/orbit/HEAD/scripts/install.sh | bashNeeds a Starlink dish and router on the same Wi-Fi, Python 3.10 or newer, and a Mac (for the background service and the Mac app; the server itself is plain Python). The installer checks this tarball's SHA-256, makes a Python environment, and starts the background service. Run it again to update; your history is kept.
In this release
- Devices — rename, owners, types, notes and data allowances; hide, merge and select several at once
- People — devices grouped by who uses them, with allowances that add up across their devices
- Usage — per hour and per day, by person and by device, over 24 hours, 7 or 30 days
- Starlink — obstruction map, dropouts with cause, connection chain, dish pointing, updates and speed tests
- Security — who can reach whom, plus a tripwire that catches anything knocking on this Mac
- Floor plan — draw your walls, place your devices, see which are weaker than the walls explain
- Mac app — the same pages in SwiftUI, a menu bar icon, and start/stop/restart of the server
The Mac app is built during install rather than downloaded: a copy signed for one Mac is blocked by Gatekeeper on another.
