Features

The workflow guard is now opt-in: installations without an explicit workflow_guard.mode use disabled instead of observe. To keep the previous behavior, set {"workflow_guard":{"mode":"observe"}} in your user-level systematic.json. Explicit observe and protected settings continue to work as before. (#1158)

A disabled guard now skips operation observers, repository snapshots, session-history reads, and receipt classification, removing the 19 startup git calls it previously made even when explicitly disabled. Its four workflow tools remain registered, and completion calls return a terminal disabled rejection instead of staying pending.

Guard guidance is now included only in OpenCode sessions where the guard is enabled. Pi and Claude Code no longer receive instructions for a guard they do not run, reducing their bootstrap by about 2.4 KB. Configuration schemas and documentation reflect the new default.
