Work-profile unlock reminders

• New Settings > Unlock reminders setup, with Allowed/Blocked status and a shortcut to Android notification settings.
• A separate high-importance reminder offers Android's work-PIN flow or a work-app picker after scheduled resume.
• Android 11+ scheduled resumes and retries do not request automatic credential popups. An explicit foreground action can request credentials. Android 10 retains its older resume API.
• Canceling PIN entry returns to the picker without an immediate prompt loop; Resume work profile explicitly retries.
• Successful profile unlock clears the reminder while WorkPause's runtime receiver is active. OFF, ended work hours, and profile removal also clear obsolete reminders.
• Already-running profiles are not mistaken for failed resume requests.
• The reminder has its own notification group, so auto-grouped status notifications do not replace its tap action.
• Updated README, installation/setup instructions, in-app help, verification record, and GitHub Pages.

Notification setup is required

1. Open WorkPause Settings > Unlock reminders and allow notifications.
2. Review Work profile unlock reminders in Android notification settings. On Samsung, enable the channel's banner/pop-up options if desired; labels vary by One UI version.
3. Check Do Not Disturb. Allowing notifications does not guarantee a heads-up banner; the notification shade remains the normal place to look.

Scheduling still works if notifications are blocked, but the unlock reminder cannot appear. Notification setup is separate from silent control, exact alarms, and battery settings.

Tap the reminder after scheduled resume. Android may ask for the PIN directly; otherwise choose a work app to trigger its challenge. WorkPause never reads or bypasses a PIN and does not request lock-screen launches or wake.

Install or update

Download WorkPause-1.0.3.apk, open it on your phone, or run:

adb install -r WorkPause-1.0.3.apk

Version name 1.0.3, version code 5. Application ID and signing certificate are unchanged. Update over 1.0.2 or the local 1.0.3-preview without uninstalling or resetting app data.

Silent control still requires the separate one-time grant:

adb shell pm grant io.github.marinfrankovic.workpause android.permission.MODIFY_QUIET_MODE

Verification and limitations

• 43 unit tests passed: 24 scheduler, 7 location, and 12 reminder-policy tests.
• Debug build/lint and signed release build passed; lint has warnings.
• The signed 1.0.3-preview implementation was tested on an Android 15 emulator with a disposable managed profile and work PIN: real schedule reconciliation, notification tap, Android-owned credential UI, cancel/retry, unlock cleanup, selected work-app launch, and active-reminder cleanup on OFF.
• The preview was installed and opened over 1.0.2 on the owner's Galaxy S24 Ultra, retaining silent-control and notification permissions. Samsung notification delivery, heads-up settings, and the new PIN flow have not yet been functionally verified.
• If Android stops WorkPause's process before an unlock outside the app, immediate reminder cleanup is not guaranteed. A dismissed reminder may reappear on a pending resume retry.
• This remains a Preview, not general Samsung, Intune, Knox, or enterprise compatibility certification. It is marked Latest for repository visibility.

WorkPause 1.0.2 Preview

One WorkPause switch

• WorkPause ON: immediately follow the last saved weekly schedule.
• WorkPause OFF: stop WorkPause's automatic changes and leave work apps as set on the phone.
• No separate Auto, Resume now, or Pause now controls.
• ON/OFF applies immediately and persists without Save.
• Save schedule only saves daily rules. It does not enable WorkPause or save unfinished edits when the switch is changed.
• Daily Schedule / All day ON / All day OFF rules and copy-to-days remain available.
• OFF cancels alarms and pending resumes, cancels queued accessibility callbacks, and prevents a delayed fallback activity from applying an outdated toggle.
• Updated README, in-app help, verification record, repository About, and screenshot.

Install or update

Download WorkPause-1.0.2.apk below, install directly on the phone, or run:
adb install -r WorkPause-1.0.2.apk

The application ID and signing certificate are unchanged. No uninstall or data reset is needed.
Version name 1.0.2; version code 3.

Silent control requires this separate one-time permission grant:
adb shell pm grant io.github.marinfrankovic.workpause android.permission.MODIFY_QUIET_MODE

Verification and limitations

31 unit tests passed; debug build/lint and signed release build passed.
Signed APK smoke checks verified immediate ON/OFF persistence, draft isolation, saving while OFF without re-enabling, removal of old controls, and no active WorkPause alarms while OFF. Original emulator settings were restored.

Actual work-profile switching, physical phones, Samsung S24 Ultra / One UI 9, Intune, Knox, and enterprise policy compatibility are NOT verified. The emulator has no managed work profile. The Preview title and these limitations are retained even though this is marked Latest for visibility on the repository homepage.

Follow-up to the first WorkPause release:

• Removed the outdated location-feature description from README and About.
• Added prominent release and signed APK download links at the top of README.
• Updated all installation examples and app-version checks.
• Renamed the accessibility service to WorkPause visible fallback.
• Preserved the compact header, Auto switch, daily Schedule / All day ON / All day OFF controls, matching all-day descriptions, copy/save, and setup cards.

Download WorkPause-1.0.1.apk below. Update an existing WorkPause release with:
adb install -r WorkPause-1.0.1.apk

For silent control, separately grant:

29 unit tests, debug build/lint, signed release build, and APK signature/version checks passed.
The scheduler controls were smoke-tested in the Android emulator. Physical phones, actual work-profile toggling, Samsung S24 Ultra / One UI 9, Intune, and Knox are NOT verified.

The old version text beside unchanged files on GitHub is inherited commit history, not the WorkPause APK version.

WorkPause 1.0.0 Preview

First independently signed WorkPause preview, based on Work Profile Scheduler under Apache-2.0.

What's included

• Compact header with Auto switch and Settings.
• Per weekday: Schedule (ON From/To), All day ON, or All day OFF.
• Copy behavior and remembered hours to other weekdays, then Save.
• Matching all-day descriptions; no duplicate weekday headings.
• Redesigned setup cards with expandable ADB instructions and Copy command.
• Location setup hidden by default; previously enabled configurations remain manageable.
• Own app ID, icon, and protected release signing; no debug signing fallback.
• Removed external test hook, non-exported retry receiver, System UI-only accessibility, manual confirmation dialogs, and fresh/revalidated location checks.
• README with ADB and phone-only sideload instructions, permissions, signing, and limitations.

Install

Download WorkPause-1.0.0.apk below. Install directly on the phone, or run:
adb install -r WorkPause-1.0.0.apk

For silent profile control, separately grant:

Application ID: io.github.marinfrankovic.workpause. Version: 1.0.0 (code 1).
This installs separately from the original app. Do not uninstall a release installation just to install a differently signed debug APK.

Verification and limitations

29 unit tests passed; debug build/lint and signed release build passed. Emulator UI checks covered daily modes, copy/save persistence, Settings instructions, and compact controls.
Not tested on a real phone, Samsung S24 Ultra / One UI 9, Intune, or Knox. The emulator has no work profile; actual profile switching, locked-device behavior, and location-provider behavior are not verified. This preview cannot bypass Android or employer restrictions.

SHA256SUMS.txt contains the APK download checksum.
