.mdd files are formatted and validated out of the box: format and check preserve MDD directives, semantic classes, and sub/superscripts, and lint and check run the canonical MDD validator, where only errors fail the run and recommendations are informational (7e2d4cd)
check now fails when the formatter would change a file, so it reports formatting drift instead of only lint issues (2f7a5f0)
formatMarkdownText accepts semanticBreaks and wrapWidth options (2f7a5f0)
Changed
.remarkrc* is resolved from each file's directory rather than the working directory, matching remark-cli and the language server (2f7a5f0)
The formatter escapes only what Markdown needs: underscores inside words such as snake_case stay literal, and in .mdd files [Company Name] placeholders and ~x~ subscripts survive formatting; the formatted output parses to the same tree as the input (7e92402)
Linting .mdd files no longer reports undefined-reference warnings for bracketed placeholders (7e92402)
nuclear step 1 uses a shared polish preset that does not restructure existing Markdown; the CLI and editor now share the same preset (6179c36, 2f7a5f0)
CLI errors are clearer: missing option values, passing a directory without --recursive, and invalid or missing plugin files report specific messages (7e2d4cd)
Fixed
autoformat --smart-quotes and smart ellipsis were no-ops unless NLP was enabled; a typography-only pass now runs without NLP and skips frontmatter, code fences, tables, tags, and expressions (6179c36)
Cleanup keeps hard line breaks and fenced content, and semantic line breaks no longer split frontmatter, tables, or code (6179c36)
