ArSonVerb v1.0.1 — Cross-platform, no-budget distribution

Free/open source (GNU AGPL-3.0-only). Copyright (c) 2026 Mas Ari - SonKuPik.
This release adds installer and distribution formats; the DSP, preset IDs and
premium GUI remain unchanged from the stable P9 v1.0.0 milestone.

Download Windows — START HERE

1. Recommended for DAW users: VST3-only ZIP (3.75 MB).
Download, extract, and copy the ArSonVerb.vst3 folder to the Windows VST3 location. No installer EXE needs to be downloaded or run.

2. Easy setup: Installer inside regular ZIP.
Extract the ZIP, double-click ArSonVerb-Windows-x64-Setup-v1.0.1.exe, then choose VST3, Standalone, or both. Per-user install, no administrator needed. The original standalone .exe asset is kept for users who specifically want direct installer download, but is not the default download route.

3. Portable Standalone ZIP for users who only need the desktop app.

These are standard ZIP archives with ordinary file names and no passwords, renaming tricks or scripts. Browsers can still inspect downloaded archives. The original package checksums cover the seven original binaries; the additional installer ZIP checksum covers the new supplementary download. The installer inside the new ZIP is byte-for-byte identical to the previously tested published Inno Setup EXE.

macOS universal ArSonVerb-macOS-universal-Standalone-v1.0.1.zip Portable .app, Apple Silicon + Intel

Installation

Windows VST3 ZIP: unzip and copy the ArSonVerb.vst3 folder to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\\Programs\\Common\\VST3\\ (current user), or
C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\VST3\\ (all users, administrator).
Close the DAW before replacing an existing VST3 plugin, then rescan plugins.

Windows smart installer: download the Installer ZIP, extract it, then run the included Inno Setup EXE; select VST3 and/or Standalone;
the default per-user installation does not require administrator elevation.
It installs the user VST3 into the standard location, provides an optional
Start Menu shortcut and uninstaller, and retains licence files.

Linux VST3: extract the .tar.gz and copy ArSonVerb.vst3 into
~/.vst3/. The standalone archive contains the executable ArSonVerb;
it requires libraries matching your Linux distribution and desktop/audio
stack. No DEB, RPM, AppImage or universal system-library compatibility
claims are made.

macOS VST3: unzip and put ArSonVerb.vst3 in
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/. Standalone: move ArSonVerb.app
to ~/Applications/. The universal build contains both x86_64 and
arm64 slices. Not Developer ID signed or Apple notarized. macOS
Gatekeeper may demand explicit approval after first launch. Users who
trust the official source and checksum may use System Settings >
Privacy & Security > Open Anyway for that individual item if offered.
Do not disable system security globally.

Security / zero-cost distribution limits

Repacking EXE as ZIP or tar.gz does not remove SmartScreen, antivirus,
Smart App Control or macOS Gatekeeper checks. Self-signing is not a
trusted substitute for a recognized certificate; Inno Setup is not an
exemption from SmartScreen. Keep direct, canonical GitHub Release URLs;
check the SHA256SUMS.txt file next to all binary assets and tagged
source. No fake signatures, no mark-of-the-web stripping, no Defender
exclusions, no global Gatekeeper disable scripts, no AV evasion.

If Microsoft Defender identifies a false positive, report it to
Microsoft's official Security Intelligence false-positive submission
portal with a reproducible package and hash; do not alter binaries
simply to avoid scanners. Security policy-enforced blocks cannot be
guaranteed to be bypassable. The product is distributed as
publisher-unsigned and does not claim universal xrun-free hardware
behavior.

Verification

  • Source build: pinned JUCE 9.0.4 plus original AGPL-3.0-only core.
  • Each platform package includes LICENSE, INTER-OFL.txt,
    RELEASE_NOTES.md and INSTALL.txt.
  • The Windows installer includes the same license and native binaries.
  • Before publication: native JUCE VST3 + Standalone builds, CTests and
archived artifact contents checked by GitHub Actions on each OS.
  • Release job requires exact commit equality with main and validates
all expected packages and SHA-256 hashes before publishing once.
  • v1.0.0 is immutable; new artifacts belong to v1.0.1 only.

ArSonVerb v1.0.0 — First Stable Windows Release

Included

  • Windows x64 VST3 plug-in and Windows standalone application (unsigned ZIP).
  • Four distinct algorithmic feedback modes: Classic, Plate, Chamber, Hall.
  • 32 factory presets with mono-in/mono-out, mono-in/stereo-out and stereo-in/stereo-out layouts.
  • Musical high-frequency decay shaping, controlled wet top air, equal-power Mix, presence-aware wet ducking.
  • Real-time audio protections: all heavy initial controls prepared before callback, restored DAW state synchronized before prepare, bounded expensive control-coefficient recalculation.
  • Small, native clickable creator credit at the bottom of the existing premium gold GUI. No GUI size or DSP latency change.

Installation (Windows x64)

  • Close your DAW before replacing a previous test build.
  • Extract the ZIP, and copy the complete ArSonVerb.vst3 bundle to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\. Rescan plug-ins in your DAW.
  • The standalone ArSonVerb.exe may be run directly. Select the desired audio device/driver in the standalone application's audio settings.
  • Existing DAW automation identifiers and factory settings remain compatible with the P8 v0.7.0 source baseline.

P9 startup and preset-switch stability

  • User reported crackles on opening the GUI/plugin and sometimes on factory-preset changes after P8.
  • P9 adds prewarm before the first ASIO callback, bounded polynomial hot-path control math (no libm spikes), a coherent 14-parameter preset transaction, redundant host-notification suppression and two-fixed-tap Pre-delay/Size crossfades.
  • The P9 fixes have been accepted by the project owner for public stable release on 2026-11-01. This does not claim zero underruns on every driver, interface, or host.
  • Automated tests cover coefficient accuracy, no first-frame tap jump, and rapid preset switching across the four feedback modes.

Engineering acceptance

  • Verified P9 Linux Release and ASan/UBSan with 11/11 core tests; Windows VST3/Standalone with 12/12 tests including real JUCE host. The public release workflow reruns the full Windows tests on the exact published commit.
  • No promise of zero round-trip latency: VST3 reports no plugin-added latency, but audio drivers and hardware impose real buffering. Driver underrun validation depends on the user's physical setup.
  • The binary is unsigned; Windows/DAW security prompts may occur. No installer or code-signing certificate is included.
  • Linux and macOS binaries are not included in this first Windows release.
  • JUCE 9 third-party framework is copyright its respective owners. Source and/or third-party licence compliance must be confirmed under the selected distribution terms before running the public-release workflow.

Licensing and provenance

ArSonVerb is free/open-source under the project owner's chosen AGPL-3.0-only, including the bundled DSP and JUCE 9 frontend under JUCE's AGPLv3 option. The full source licence is in LICENSE, and the embedded Inter variable font retains its separate SIL OFL 1.1. Public releases include corresponding tagged source from GitHub, source build instructions and third-party notices. The owner approved free AGPLv3 source distribution and public stable publication on 2026-11-01, following P9 listening acceptance. All binaries are accompanied by the corresponding tagged GitHub source archive; no third-party commercial sonic equivalence or universal driver performance guarantee is implied.
