There is no "ActivityPub JSON format", ActivityPub is a protocol and has no "formats" per se. ActivityPub uses the Activity Streams 2.0 format https://www.w3.org/TR/activitystreams-core/. Verified that Mastodon's post export is Activity Streams 2.0 JSON: https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2023-04-22#t1682203049226300

When the resource being exported is the Outbox of an ActivityPub actor, I
think the distinction is a little bit academic. The objects and activities
are formatted specifically for ActivityPub processing using the
ActivityStreams vocabulary. I don't think it's incorrect to refer to
either.

when i wrote that page of the docs 4 years ago i wasn't entirely clear on the difference between as2-core / as2-vocab / ap. knowing what i know now, i would have written it as in this PR. |
