@mateusrodrigo mateusrodrigo released this 09 Nov 19:39

Rotate Camera 8D v1.1.0

What’s New

  • Introduced a modular compass overlay system with selectable themes:
    • Classic Simple, Arcane Blue, Dark Metal, Parchment RPG, and Steampunk Brass.
    • Compass updates in real time with rotation and can be toggled from settings.
  • Added public API for integration with external modules:
    • getAngleDeg(), getAngleRad(), getCameraStep()
  • Added new plugin hooks:
    • rotateCamera8dAnimating (during rotation)
    • rotateCamera8dRotated (after rotation)
  • Added per-scene rotation control:
    • New option in the Scene Configuration → Basics tab to disable camera rotation for specific scenes (useful for landing or overview scenes).
  • Optimized perception and lighting refreshes for smoother performance.
  • Integrated with Follow The Token Cinematic mode.
  • Remove old rotating camera compatibility hook

Fixes

  • Fixed compass redraw and synchronization under rapid rotation.
  • Corrected rotation state persistence between scene reloads.
  • Reduced redundant perception updates during continuous movement.

Technical Notes

  • The legacy perception flag forceUpdateFog has been deprecated in Foundry v13.350+.
It has been safely removed from internal refresh calls with no impact on fog or vision behavior.
The module now relies exclusively on:
    • refreshVision
    • refreshLighting
    • refreshOcclusion
    • refreshPrimary (as needed)

Compatibility

  • Tested on Foundry VTT v13.350+
  • Compatible with Follow The Token v1.2.0 and later.

Rotate Camera 8D v1.0.1 – Vision Fix Update

Choose a tag to compare

@mateusrodrigo mateusrodrigo released this 06 Nov 03:55

Changelog

[1.0.1] - 2025-11-06

Fixed

  • Corrected a vision and lighting refresh issue that occurred when rotating the camera without Follow The Token enabled.
  • Implemented a lightweight refresh method (similar to Follow The Token) to maintain proper fog of war and shadow updates.
  • Improved rotation stability and performance during movement.
  • Minor internal refactoring and cleanup.

Known Limitation

  • Foundry’s grid layer still does not rotate with the canvas.
When rotating the camera, the grid may appear misaligned or invisible.
This is a Foundry engine limitation, not a module issue.

Compatibility

  • Tested on Foundry VTT v13.350+
  • Fully client-side; no database or system modifications.
  • Compatible with Follow The Token v1.0.1 and later.

[1.0.0] - 2025-11-05

Added

  • Initial public release of Rotate Camera 8D for Foundry VTT v13.350+.
  • Adds smooth 45° camera rotation using Q/E (configurable).
  • Fully remaps WASD movement to match the rotated camera angle.
  • Designed to work seamlessly alongside Follow The Token.
  • Maintains continuous movement when rotating mid-motion.
  • Non-intrusive: rotation affects only the client view, not the scene or tokens.

Known Limitation

  • Foundry’s grid layer does not rotate with the canvas.
When rotating the camera, the grid may appear misaligned or invisible.
This is a Foundry engine limitation, not a module issue.
