Fixes element-hq/element-web#20315

Though not perfect, this is a bit better than it was before. Specifically, we ensure our matching for isOwnEvent correctly identifies the user and that the results don't look awful.

There's still room for improvement, but this should be a measurable improvement itself. Most notably, this doesn't fix a couple obvious bugs due to complexity:

  • Message bubbles have the wrong corners for the display format (pre-existing).
  • The sender's own messages are missing avatars/names. This is just way too complex to fix.

This also tries to copy some UI concepts from the "regular" search results, such as the greying of contextual results.

This looks great! Thanks for working on this. :)

I just have a few comments/questions:

  • I noticed that some search results load an avatar and some don't, do we know why?
    🤔
  • Can we grey out the contextual results a bit more, I compared the opacity on modern vs with bubbles and seems like we can try and match that?
  • I couldn't reproduce getting more than one search result by the sender at a time, but based on the screenshot you shared, can we make sure that there is a 2px space between two consequecutive messages? I also wanted to add that not having sender's avatar or name seems fine to me personally. There are enough cues to suggest that the sender sent those :)

Search results are known to have a bunch of technical reasons for being awful, such as not having avatars sometimes. There's also DOM structures which make it particularly difficult.

Will increase the padding and opacity 👍
