Added
sshelf pickopens the picker in the rows under your prompt, prints the name of the host you
choose, and connects to nothing, so you can search the inventory from the shell without
leaving the line you are typing. Your prompt is where you left it afterwards and nothing the
list drew stays behind. The list goes to stderr, sohost=$(sshelf pick)captures the name
and nothing else; marked rows (^s) print one name per line; quitting without choosing prints
nothing and exits 1. An optional query prefills the search box.sshelf pick --height ROWSand thepick_heightconfig key (default 15) set how many rows it
uses;0or--full-screentakes the whole terminal instead. A height taller than the window
is clamped so your prompt keeps a row.- Pick mode answers only the chooser keys: filter, move,
^sto mark,Enter,Esc,^c.
Adding, editing, deleting and the other screens are inert there, so a picker your shell fires
off on a keypress cannot change the database on the way past. contrib/sshelf.plugin.zshandcontrib/sshelf.bashbind the picker to Alt-s. On an empty
line you getsshelf web-01ready to run, mid-line you get the host name at the cursor, and
marked hosts give you every name for a loop. They work with Oh My Zsh, zinit, antidote, or a
plainsource. Details in the new
Shell integration page.
Changed
auth = "agent"is documented for what it actually is: sshelf wires nothing and runs plain
ssh user@host, so host-based authentication, GSSAPI/Kerberos and appliances that need no
secret all work with it. The failed-authentication message no longer assumes an agent was
involved, anddoctor's ssh-agent warning is explained for fleets that have no agent by
design. No code or file-format change for existing hosts.
