Paper Pilot v1.0.0 brings the current reader, Research Workspace and local Research Studio workflows into one Zotero add-on.

Highlights since v0.2.4

  • Research Studio: original-format DOCX editing, Markdown/MyST, LaTeX and Typst source editing, data tables, Python/R notebook support, references, document history and portable project bundles. Compilation and notebook execution use separately installed local runtimes.
  • Project assistant: Codex CLI, Claude Code and explicit loopback model endpoints, selected-file context, resumable project conversations and individually reviewed change proposals. The provider/model picker, context chips and New document dialog have been redesigned.
  • Academic DOCX drafting: prepare a manuscript request with chosen sources, review the proposal, and append styled title/section/body paragraphs as a new version. Manuscripts default to academic English unless another language is explicitly requested.
  • Research Workspace: clearer project entry and analysis navigation, bounded PDF preparation with isolated retries, and project deletion that checks ownership and process termination before removing managed files.
  • Reliability and reader UX: improved engine settings, data-table round trips, process cancellation and window-replacement ownership; refreshed multilingual guides and current runtime contracts.

Installation

Download paper-pilot.xpi below and install it through Zotero's add-on manager. The declared compatibility range is Zotero 7–10. Reader AI requires an installed, authenticated Codex CLI or Claude Code; Studio editing does not require a model account. Java 11+ enables bundled OpenDataLoader extraction, with Zotero attachment text as the fallback. Local CLI execution requires a Unix environment with /bin/zsh; native Windows CLI execution is not supported.

Verification scope

The PR CI, main CI and Release workflow passed. These cover tests, TypeScript checks and XPI packaging; CI also covers lint and real Python notebook-worker integration. The publicly downloaded XPI passed ZIP integrity, manifest/version, bundled-runtime and GitHub digest checks. Both automatic-update manifests match its SHA-512.

Native Zotero/Word checks are not rerun by this release workflow. The broader Zotero/provider/platform matrix, Word editing/field refresh/reimport and R runtime checks remain separate from automated verification. Academic drafts require source and citation review.
