@memon-ismail memon-ismail released this 13 Sep 16:52

Eloqium TTS v0.1.2 — User Dictionary Release

Eloqium TTS v0.1.2 introduces a comprehensive, language-isolated User Dictionary subsystem, allowing users to define custom word and phrase pronunciation replacements tailored to their individual speech preferences.

What's New in v0.1.2

  • Language & Locale Isolation:

    • Dictionaries are strictly scoped to the active Eloqium language and regional variant (e.g., en-US, en-GB, es-ES, es-MX, fr-FR, fr-CA, de-DE, it-IT).
    • Rules defined for one locale (such as en-US) never leak or apply into another locale (such as en-GB or es-MX).
  • Multiple Dictionaries per Language:

    • Create and manage multiple named dictionaries per language (e.g., Acronyms, Technical Terms, Personal Names).
    • Easily enable or disable individual dictionaries or entries without deleting them.
  • Versatile Matching Modes:

    • Exact Match (EXACT): Matches complete standalone words or phrases (default).
    • Starts With (STARTS_WITH): Matches words beginning with the specified trigger pattern.
    • Ends With (ENDS_WITH): Matches words ending with the specified trigger pattern.
    • Contains (CONTAINS): Matches words or phrases containing the pattern anywhere within the text.
    • Case Sensitivity Control: Optional Match Case toggle for exact casing vs. case-insensitive matches.
  • Pipeline Integration:

    • UserDictionaryProcessor executes seamlessly within the core text pipeline immediately after Emoticon processing and before Punctuation verbalization, ensuring correct phonetic substitution prior to speech synthesis.
  • Export & Import with Android "Open With" Integration:

    • Export any dictionary to standardized JSON format for sharing and backup.
    • Import dictionaries with schema pre-validation.
    • Open .json dictionary files directly from Android file managers or chat apps into Eloqium TTS with a two-step confirmation dialog ("Import dictionary?") and accessible completion feedback.
  • TalkBack & Accessibility Optimized:

    • Fully accessible UI with labeled fields, focus management, clear content descriptions, and TalkBack announcements.
  • Platform & Documentation Updates:

    • Formally aligned documented platform baseline to Android 6.0+ (minSdk = 23, compileSdk = 36, targetSdk = 35).
    • Documented complete regional locale matrix (5 language families, 8 regional variants).

Eloqium TTS v0.1.1 — Custom Punctuation Release

Eloqium TTS v0.1.1 introduces user-defined Custom Punctuation alongside existing verbosity levels, giving screen-reader users precise control over symbol verbalization.

What's New in v0.1.1

  • Custom Punctuation Level: Added a 5th verbosity option, Custom, directly below All in the Punctuation dialog.
  • User-Defined Symbol Verbalization: Enter any combination of symbols or punctuation marks (e.g., @#%*) to verbalize only those specific characters while keeping unselected marks prosodic.
  • TalkBack & Accessibility Optimized: Built with accessible radio button groups, accessible text entry fields, explicit content descriptions, and focus-friendly navigation.
  • Intonation & Syntax Preservation: Preserves numerical decimals (3.14), thousands separators (1,000), time formatting (12:30), abbreviations, and question marks for sentence intonation even when custom symbols are active.
  • Persistent Settings: Custom punctuation choices and symbol definitions persist reliably across reboots and service restarts.

Punctuation Levels Summary

  • None: Pure prosodic phrasing with no spoken symbols.
  • Some: Verbalizes mathematical and syntax symbols (*, /, \, #, %, &, +, =, @, ^, ~, <, >, |, $).
  • Most: Some + structural delimiters (parentheses, brackets, braces, quotes, dashes, colons, semicolons).
  • All: All punctuation marks including sentence terminators (periods, commas, question marks, exclamation marks).
  • Custom: Verbalizes only the user-specified characters; all other marks remain prosodic.
