Call for new members

Inge forwarded the mail with two questions she had three years ago: Q1) How much time does it really take (approximately)? I see in the minutes that board meetings take place about once a month / once in 6 weeks, but how much time do you spend on actual work in let's say, one month? Q2) Also the procedures mention that "Applications should include a resume or curriculum vitae, a cover letter describing the applicant's interest in applying for the position, and two references." What do you expect of these two people? Do they have to confirm my knowledge of METS (like direct colleagues), or do you have other expectations? Karin suggested by mail to add info regarding Q1 and to remove request for references. Question is if we first send out a call or do we change the info on the website first? And we did not decide who the mail should be sent to (instead of Betsy and Tom). We change info on website first. Action: Karin sets up draft of mail for new members; should be looked at by native English speaker; after that send changes to Glenn for loc.gov We haven’t decided yet to whom e-mails with applications should be sent. To discuss next time on f2f meeting September 16.

Face to Face meeting

Inge arranged Waterfront room on Monday September 16 from 16:30-18:00; there will be around ten Board members present. Karin, Bertrand, Inge, Juha, Sean, Andreas, Tobias, Robin, Jukka. But Jukka might travel on Monday and Aaron won’t be able to attend. All: add agenda items on Trello board for Face to Face meeting Should it be possible to call in for members who won’t attend iPRES? Karin will brings techs and test with Andreas next week if we can use zoom on other time slot. After that send mail to board for optional caal-in.

iPRES 2019 workshops

Tobias asks about the current state of preparations for tutorials and workshops. Karin tells there’s lots of things prepared and she has lists of participants. For all workshops was asked for questions beforehand, but no questions were received.

  • PREMIS tutorial 65 people

  • METS tutorial 56 people – Juha is on vacation right now; Karin and Juha will have a meeting next week.

  • Preservation Metadata workshop 55 people – Andreas and Karin have a meeting next week. Andreas tells something about the agenda for the workshop. Short introductions on all 3 standards; short session how these standards should / might work together; hope to dive in discussion right away; but bring along examples by presenters if there won’t be any questions. Tobias asks if it’s an idea to bring up use cases? Andreas expects people will come with questions or maybe people bring their own solutions. Most important is getting started conversation with users.

Web stats

Sent by Karin by mail and added to the Trello board. XSDs are not part of the File Download Report, out of scope for Web stats. This report also contains files from other domains; probably part of profile pages. We do like to see how many times XSD and HTML files are looked up; Karin will ask Glenn.

Jukka will take a look at issue-template.
